Here is the Dead Island 2 Red Tide side quest guide which will help you track down the whereabouts of a boat, Carmen believes is close by and could be used to escape Hell-A. This is one of the toughest side quests in the game so ensure your gear is maxed out and you have some very heavy hitting firepower that none of which should be electricity based as you’re going to have more than enough electricity to worry about without adding to the mix.
Red Tide should be one of the last side quests you attempt in Dead Island 2, it’s found in The Pier region and will see you take on a heavy group of enemies including a fight against 2 Butchers, one normal 1 Vicious at the same time then an over powered Mutator, a Screamer and seemingly never ending waves of zombies all whilst you try and avoided dying to the electricity in the area at the same time. This one is a challenge. Red Tide won’t become available until you have completed both the Coast Guardian and A Hero’s Journey side quests, I also strongly recommend you get the main game finished before attempting this one as well as the gear you’ll obtain along the way can be invaluable.
Quest giver: Carmen.
Rewards: 3,000 XP, Machine Pistol (Upon opening the final crate).
Speak with Carmen in Lifeguard HQ then ensure your ear is fully repaired, upgraded and matched to your level then head over to the CDC Base on the East side of The Pier region following the marker through to the small dome.
Inside, you will need to find 4 clues, the first of which is the Cashing Out note in the yellow biohazard bin opposite the entrance. The next is found by looking on the table to the left of the biohazard bin which will be the Paging Doctor Whom.
Go through the passage in the back of the room and interact with the Broken Card Reader where you will no doubt spot a Butcher feeding on a corpse through the glass then look to your right behind the screen in the darkness where you can collect the final clue, the Change Of Scenery note on the side of a biohazard bin.
Go outside dealing with the ambush waiting for you then proceed North West across the base taking out anything that stands in your way as you progress round to the main base ensuring your firearms are reloaded, your curveballs and Fury are charged as you now have a 2 on 1 fight against a Butcher and a Vicious Butcher which is a tough fight by any measure.
Once they’re down, collect the Huang’s Warning note from the Vicious Butcher then cross the beach West to the underside of The Pier after leaving the Dome. For this next part of Red Tide you need to stay out of the water at all costs initially as the water is heavily electrified and you won’t last long if you go for a paddle along the shore so keep your feet dry as you go towards the boat.
Clear the initial zombies then go to the generator and deactivate it which won’t disable all of the electricity in the water but it will help then loot the red Secure Crate on the West side of the beach (not the one near the boat) then take down every zombie which appears.
Next up, you need to go wide around the left side of the capsized boat then loot the next red Secure Crate in the water behind one of the pier struts then take down the next ambush.
You are then free to loot the red Secure Crate on the South side of the capsized boat which will spawn a lot of zombies, a Screamer as well as Cooper who has changed in to a Mutator and take them all down avoiding the electrified water as you do so.
Once every zombie including Cooper has been laid to rest, Carmen will come over the radio then once she’s done talking, the Red Tide side quest will conclude.
That’s the Dead Island 2 Red Tide side quest guide complete, I hope it helped you find the boat for Carmen and lay Cooper to rest.
