Borderlands 4 directory.
Here we will go over where you can find all of the Borderlands 4 Legendary Sniper Rifles which are, for the most part long range hard hitting weapons designed to keep you away from the fight but they are also very useful given their power at getting you back up in Fight for your Life. Legendaries are some of the best items you can equip in Borderlands 4 and for the most part they are incredibly powerful / useful items which can carry you through some of the tougher missions. Don’t get me wrong them some of the legendary Sniper Rifles in Borderlands 4 are complete duds and whose only use is to be sold save for some strict use cases.
Bare in mind there are many variations of Sniper Rifles but the base name will always be the same. The prefix will determine the type of attachments that a given gun will have, you might have a completely different prefix which can lead to some confusion but ultimately the legendary itself will have varying levels of efficacy based on the prefix you receive.
Legendary Sniper Rifles
The Legendary Sniper Rifles I have managed to find in Borderlands 4 so far are:
Asher's Rise
Location: RNG drop from the, The Oppressor.
Ability: Slow Burn, critical hits apply status effects instead of increased impact damage.
Brand: Maliwan.
Synopsis: The Asher’s Rise is a good Sniper Rifle when it comes to dealing elemental damage, when it comes to raw power though it falls down heavily amongst the crowds. It does have a decent rate of fire, quick reload, ample magazine but it just doesn’t have the grunt some of the other Sniper Rifles do. Good in the early game if you haven’t anything better but easily forgotten.
Boomslang
Location: RNG drop from Bramblesong in the Bittervein Auger Mine.
Ability: Bullet Polinator: After reloading, the first critical hit ricochets a sticky projectile to up to 3 nearby enemies.
Brand: Jakobs.
Synopsis: The Boomslang is a very good Sniper Rifle that has good range and has a decent magazine, I don’t do it justice in the video below as I’m using a controller rather than a mouse for aiming but make no mistake this is a death dealing Sniper Rifle providing you can stay away from the crowds.
Borstel Ballista
Location: RNG drop from the Timekeeper.
Ability: Propagation.
Brand: Jakobs.
Synopsis: The Borstel Ballista is a very hard hitting Sniper Rifle which then doubles as a Shotgun which hits even harder than the SR rounds. If you want to feel like a Sniper in the Wild West this is a very good Gun to have equipped. It won’t bring the flashy elemental damage of some of the other Sniper Rifles in the game but when it comes to raw damage it’s a monster!.
Complex Root
Location: RNG drop from the Struct Ghost World Boss.
Ability: Stormcloud.
Brand: Maliwan.
Synopsis: The Complex Root is a contender for the worst Sniper Rifle in the game as it has an incredibly short range. I have Common Shotguns that can hit a target from across a base whereas this Sniper Rifle should be wielded more like a short range pistol. Yes, the additional beams of energy deal a decent amount of damage but the main reason for using a Sniper Rifle is to hit targets from a distance, this thing just doesn’t do the job it’s designed for. One for the collectors.
Fisheye
Location: RNG drop from the Pango boss at the Tendercage Ripper Drill Site in Carcadia Burn.
Ability: Ultima Ratio Regum, fires wide, penetrating triple Railgun shots with +40% critical damage.
Brand: Order.
Synopsis: The Fisheye Sniper Rifle is a triple fire beast which can wreck opponents. You will need to charge the Rifle before firing and unlike most other weapons I have used with a charge the Fisheye will hold the charge until you release the trigger giving you time and opportunity to line up that headshot. Sending 3 high powered rounds in to any target will give them a bad day, this ones makes you look cool whilst doing it.
Katagawa's Revenge
Location: RNG drop from the Driller Hole story boss.
Ability: Sierpinski, spawns additional diverging projectiles along its path.
Brand: Maliwan.
Synopsis: The Katagawa’s Revenge Sniper Rifle is so powerful as SR’s go it should be in a tier above Legendary as when you fire a round if it hits the target or not it then spawans a series of elemental laser conduits which fire beams of the given element down onto the enemies dealing heavy damage. If you want to use a Sniper Rifle but aren’t very proficient at aiming then give this one a go. The elemental damage will take care of anything you miss.
Stop Gap
Location: RNG drop from The Backhive in the, The Claim Auger Mine.
Ability: Reconfigure: When firing, fire rate decreases down to 20%, but damage increases up to 750%.
Brand: Vladof.
Synopsis: The Stop Gap is a very powerful Sniper Rifle which doubles as an Shotgun with the underbarrel and it will fire fast initially sending high velocity rounds into a target then as it slows in fire rate the damage ramps up heavily. Say you have a Stop Gap which deals a base 5,000 damage just for ease of maths, the final round will deal nearly 40k damage with the 750% boost making this incredibly deadly.
Stray
Location: RNG drop from Pango and Bango at the Tendercage Ripper Drill Site.
Ability: Stray: Fires 2 secondary bullets that home in on nearby target(s).
Brand: Ripper.
Synopsis: The Stray is an incredibly powerful Sniper Rifle with a high fire rate and very good accuracy, some of the best I’ve seen in a Borderlands game but where this thing excels is in crowd control as every round you fire that hits a target will split into 2 and home in on nearby enemies meaning whilst you are taking down for example a Badass, the secondary and tertiary projectiles will be dealing damage to the lower level mobs giving you essentially a 3 for 1 projectile. Well worth farming for!.
Symmetry
Location: RNG drop from Gun vending machines.
Ability: Bilateral, fires from reserve ammo while charging.
Brand: Order.
Synopsis: The Symmetry Sniper Rifle isn’t my cup of tea, it does fire rounds whilst it’s charging but I personally don’t like these new charged Order weapons as you need to charge 5 rounds then fire the shot which just leaves you open to attack during a reload. Against larger enemies it can serve a purpose if you don’t have anything better but to be honest, your time would be better spent farming other legendaries than wasting time using this one.
Vamoose
Location: RNG drop from the Pango boss at the Tendercage Ripper Drill Site in Carcadia Burn.
Ability: Scarce.
Brand: Ripper.
Synopsis: The Vamoose is OK as Sniper Rifles go but only just as it will charge up then release several rounds which isn’t that bad but considering how the enemies in Borderlands 4 can move around like their on some hardcore performance enhancers in my experience, by the time you have lined up your shots the enemy aren’t there anymore. Could be me being an old man now but I do think the SR leaves a lot to be desired. Very effective against stationary targets but against anything that moves, there’s a lot better out there.
XXX-L
Location: RNG drop from the Battle Wagon boss at the, The Lowering March Ripper Drill Site.
Ability: Pipin’ Hot Barrels, does not consume ammo while overheating.
Brand: Vladof.
Synopsis: The XXX-L is a God-tier Sniper Rifle not for its efficacy as a Sniper Rifle but for the fact that this thing will just fire like a minigun and won’t stop until your ammo reserves run dry regardless of how hot the weapon gets. It does have 1 hell of a kick to it so taming the recoil will be essentially for laying down damage but if you fire this thing at any large enemy / boss / crowd of enemies then you will be doing severe damage to them. Amazing Sniper Rifle. Get one!.
That’s all of the Borderlands 4 Legendary Sniper Rifles I have found so far, do you know of any I’m missing? Let me know.
