Armored Core VI: Fires Of Rubicon Arena Aptitude Tests

Here we will go over all of the Armored Core VI: Fires Of Rubicon Arena Aptitude tests which you will need to complete as you progress towards unlocking Master of Arena which unlocks once you have completed all Arena programs.

There are 29 Arena Aptitude tests which pit you in one on one fights against opponents of increasing difficulties that unlock as you progress through your first playthrough as you work towards The Fires Of Raven Ending.

The Arena missions will pit you against opponent(s) of varying difficulty which become more of a challenge the more you progress through the ranks and will initially become available once you have completed mission 9: Retrieve Combat Logs and can be found by going: Garage> Arena then select any opponent you haven’t defeated.

Each win will award you OST Chips you can spend on software upgrades which are found by going: Garage> OS Tuning and can really upgrade your AC making tougher missions trivial when you go back to them with the appropriate upgrades.

The 29 opponents you will face are as follows:

  1. “Invincible” Rummy.
  2. Index Dunham.
  3. G6 Red.
  4. Nosaac.
  5. V.VI Maeterlinck.

Take them all down then complete your first playthrough. Progress through playthrough 2 concluding Chapter 1 where the Analysis tests will then unlock allowing you to take on a new set of un-manned AC’s.

"Invincible" Rummy

Requirements: Complete mission 9: Retrieve Combat Logs.
Rewards: x2 OST Chips, $35,000.

Invincible Rummy is a melee based opponent that shouldn’t cause you any difficulties whatsoever. Stay away from his strikes and unload your best weaponry into him. This fight serves a tutorial to the Arena battles.

Index Dunham

Requirements: Complete mission 9: Retrieve Combat Logs.
Rewards: x2 OST Chips, $37,000.

Index Dunham is a  standard AC who has a machine gun and a powerful rocket launcher you need to avoid and shouldn’t pose you too many issues seeing as you made it through mission 8, Operation Wallclimber to get here.

G6 Red

Requirements: Complete mission 9: Retrieve Combat Logs.
Rewards: x2 OST Chips, $37,000.

G6 Red is where the difficulty can start to creep up if you’re under-prepared as he is tough, agile and can hit very hard so staying agile will help as, whilst you can tank several hits, if you get staggered you might be seeing failures popping up on screen.

Wait for him to aim at you, send your own artillery then dodge before his can get to you, stagger G6 Red until you can bring him down.

Nosaac

Requirements: Complete mission 11: Attack the Watchpoint.
Rewards: x2 OST Chips, $43,000.

Nosaac is a fairly tough opponent but given the boss you need to take down at the end of mission 11: Attack the Watchpoint, he shouldn’t pose you that many problems as long as you bring some heavy hitting explosive gear along with you.

V.VI Maeterlinck

Requirements: Complete mission 11: Attack the Watchpoint.
Rewards: x2 OST Chips, $45,000.

V.VI Maeterlinck can be a nightmare to fight without the correct gear. If you go in with an explosive build, he’ll beat you round the Arena time and time again. Equip some pulse weaponry such as the HI-16: GU-Q1 Pulse Gun and you’ll have a much easier time breaking his shield allowing you to unload into him.

Equip your bet armour and get ready for a hardcore fight against an agile plasma wielding for who may well put you down multiple times before you take the win.

Little Ziyi

Requirements: Complete mission 11: Attack the Watchpoint.
Rewards: x2 OST Chips, $47,000.

Little Ziyi has some heavy hitting missile launchers equipped as well as a pulse shield so maintain a similar build to V.V.I Maeterlinck, dodge the incoming missiles and use the Pulse Gun to take down the shield allowing you top open up on Little Ziyi.

As long as you have a decent amount of AP going into the fight and avoid those oversized missiles, this one shouldn’t cause that many problems hopefully.

V.VII Swinburne

Requirements: Complete mission 11: Attack the Watchpoint.
Rewards: x2 OST Chips, $50,000.

V. VII Swinburne is a very agile opponent and when you combine that with a heavy pulse shield and a large missile launcher you’re in for a tough fight so bring a Pulse Gun to dispel the shield, any back weapons that lock-on preferably plasma based and a lock on for your off hand to greatly increase the chances of hitting Swinburne.

Attack wise, he has the large missile as well as a few attacks to distract you but that missile needs to be avoided at all costs as even with the heaviest armor equipped it can easily stagger you leaving you open for more punishment.

G3 Wu Huahai

Requirements: Complete Mission 14: Ocean Crossing.
Rewards: $52,000.

G3 Wu Huahai is a fairly tough opponent who can stagger you very easily so stay away and take him on at range rather than getting up close whilst ensuring you bring some heavy hitting weaponry or a pulse fun to dispel the pulse shield.

Stay away from the pulse nova he can release and work his health bar down whilst avoiding the missile barrages until you take the win.

Ring Freddie

Requirements: Complete Mission 14: Ocean Crossing.
Rewards: $54,000.

Ring Freddie comes equipped with some very big missiles and is highly agile so ensure you bring any weapons that can lock on and chase a target around whilst also being agile enough yourself to get out of the way of the very hard hitting, staggering attacks.

Keep the pressure on the compact AC until you bring him down. Tough little fight this one.

V.V Hawkins

Requirements: Complete Mission 14: Ocean Crossing.
Rewards: $56,000.

V. V Hawkins is a tough fight as the AC comes equipped with a host of hard hitting plasma weapons and favours aerial combat over staying on the ground which will be easily countered by equipping Tetra-Pod legs allowing you to aerial for longer.

Avoid the plasma cannon and avoid the pulse discharge whilst unloading some charged attacks when you get the opening then send your best attacks as soon as its staggered and you’ll have the win soon enough.

G5 Iguazu

Requirements: Complete Mission 14: Ocean Crossing.
Rewards: $58,000.

G5 Iguaza is the toughest opponent in the Arena you will have faced by a long way as he’s seriously agile and hits very hard. In fact he’s so agile most weapons won’t even get close to him and I died several times using a ranged, agile build.

In the end, I equipped the heaviest armour I had and a large pulse blade which allowed me to get in close and smack his health away whilst still using lock on weaponry on my back to aid him dodging into my blade for some extra punishment.

Hopefully a heavily armoured melee build can help you take G5 down permanently.

Rokumonsen

Requirements: Complete Mission 14: Ocean Crossing.
Rewards: $60,000.

Rokumonsen has a variety of attacks with one of his deadlier being a Boost Kick that can easily stagger you so avoid that at all costs then as long as you avoid the missiles, bullets, projectiles, artillery, pulse blasts and every other attack at his disposal you’ll still be in for a rough time of it here given your opponents agility and ability to move out the way just as your attacks bury themselves in the wall behind as they miss time and time again.

Bring lock on weaponry as well explosives and maybe even a blade if you’re struggling a lot to hit the AC. When I took the win, I did so with 1 HP left whilst using an agile build so tankier builds should have an easier time of things. Hitting Rokumonsen is the real difficulty in this battle, become proficient at landing hits and this fight will be over quickly.

G4 Volta

Requirements: Complete Mission 18: Tunnel Sabotage.
Rewards: $62.000, 3 OST Chips.

G4 Volta is a heavily armoured AC who is rocking a full tank build and some heavy hitting weaponry to boot. Combine that with the hilly terrain and you’re either going to need a good aim or lock on weaponry to be able to inflict damage on G4 Volta.

For me, I used dual Songbirds, a plasma rifle and a grenade launcher with a light tank build which managed to out flank the opponent whilst also enabling you to inflict heavy damage along the way.

V.VIII Pater

Requirements: Complete Mission 18: Tunnel Sabotage.
Rewards: $$64,000 3 OST Chips.

V.VIII Pater is incredibly agile and can easily stagger you with a combination of a pulse gun and a powerful blade so bringing lock on weaponry is pretty much essential here as are weapons such as Gatling Guns / Assault Rifles that can lay down a heavy amount of fast moving fire to help stagger then unleash your best attacks once you’ve staggered it.

One of Pater’s best tricks is the fact he has Terminal Armor equipped so even when he’s close to death you will still have to clear the shield and inflict some more damage until you break through the shield or survive long enough for it to expire.

I went with a Gatling gun (DF-GA-08 Hu-Ben Gatling Gun) and Pile Bunker (PB-033M Ashmead Pile Bunker) then dual Songbirds (Songbirds Grenade Cannon) with as strong of a tank build as I could to take the win here.

Sulla

Requirements: Complete Mission 18: Tunnel Sabotage.
Rewards: $66,000, 3 OST Chips.

Sulla can be a tough fight if you go in under-armoured as he has very powerful attacks including pulse and plasma elements so heavily armoured builds will see a benefit here, especially given the fact unlike several of his predecessors, Sulla isn’t that agile despite his streamlined build.

I went in with a heavy build back Songbirds (Songbirds Grenade Cannon) and a blade (Vvc-770LB Laser Blade) to help when he’s staggered. As long as you avoid the pulse rounds, you should be able to tank the majority of hits whilst working towards staggering him until you lay him to rest for good.

"Chatty Stick"

Requirements: Complete Mission 18: Tunnel Sabotage.
Rewards: $68,000, 3 OST Chips.

Chatty Stick is a tough, heavily armoured AC with big guns and proves why he’s “Cinder” Carla’s right hand in this fight. He comes equipped with some very powerful attacks which can easily stagger you and he has the agility to complete a very deadly package.

Ensure you go in with a heavily armoured build or his missiles can shred you if they connect then use the terrain to your advantage to dodge behind avoiding the blasts as best as you can whilst popping back out to unleash your own barrage of attacks.

I went dual Songbirds, a blade and a gatling gun for this one without too many issues. Hopefully you’ll have little difficulty bringing him to account just as long as you avoid those missile strikes.

Middle Flatwell

Requirements: Complete Mission 18: Tunnel Sabotage.
Rewards: $70,000, 3 OST Chips.

Middle Flatwell is a very agile opponent who likes to stagger you then come down and Boost Kick you in the face. To counter this, I equipped a blade and double laser cannons along with a gatlin gun as well as Terminal Armor which is how I eventually took this guy down.

I got close several times but his agility was just too much for me to deal with, this guy just always knew when an attack was coming so a blade helped negate that and slap him away several times.

Flatwell will literally run rings around a heavily armoured build which helps to prevent target lock, whereas, for me at least, more agile builds would just get torn up before the fight really began so using the armour and heavy hitting fast weaponry seemed to work well here.

Go for any kit you have that can track, build up stagger quickly then have something powerful in reserve you can send at him once he’s staggered to remove chunks off of his bar, after all, agility brings lower armour so rip him apart when you create the opening to take the win and complete C Rank evaluation.

V.III O'Keefe

Requirements: Complete Mission 22: Attack the Old Spaceport.
Rewards: $72,000, 4 OST Chips.

Considering who and what you have had to deal with in order to make O’Keefe spawn in, he doesn’t really pose that much of a challenge. He’ll come at you with plasma attacks and has a fairly decent shield but other than that there doesn’t seem to be that many issues in taking this AC down.

Keep the pressure on and use the gear that’s gotten to you to this point in the game and you won’t have many issues bringing V.III O’Keefe to account.

"Cinder" Carla

Requirements: Complete Mission 22: Attack the Old Spaceport.
Rewards: $74,000, 4 OST Chips.

Cinder Carla is tough, very tough and she comes with a battalion’s worth of artillery that can easily track and smack you out of the fight very quickly so bring a mid-weight build with plenty of firepower.

Carla isn’t that hard to stagger if you’re using weaponry like the Songbirds and you score direct hits. The fact she is on the floor more than the air helps a lot with this fight as it means you can back her against objects in the arena and even if she dodges, the splash damage from the explosions will still hurt her.

Avoid the missile strikes as best as you can, stagger then punish which you need to do several times in order to take the win here.

Coldcall

Requirements: Complete Mission 22: Attack the Old Spaceport.
Rewards: $76,000, 4 OST Chips.

Coldcall is a tough opponent as he has a laser Shotgun and he knows how to use it. Combine that with some heavy hitting weaponry and serious agility and this can be a tough opponent to take down.

I tried several builds and found the heaviest armour and dual gatling guns (DF-GA-08 Hu-Ben) with double laser cannons (VP-60LCS) to be an efficient strategy as a full tank build can absorb the majority of the incoming fire whilst the Cannons can build up stagger and are near impossible to dodge then use the gatling guns to shred his health bar whilst staggered.

V.II Rusty

Requirements: Complete Mission 22: Attack the Old Spaceport.
Rewards: $78,000, 4 OST Chips.

V.IV Rusty, as you will have found out by completing the Attack the Old Spaceport mission which you need to do in order to open up these Arena missions is a very fast ally turned opponent in this Arena fight.

Even laser cannons have a hard time hitting Rusty so its a good idea to bring along a blade as the long sweeping motion of the blade can inflict heavy damage and even if it doesn’t hit hard, a hit is still a hit which is a rarity to inflict on this highly agile opponent.

Attack wise, Rusty won’t come at you with much, he has an SMG style weapon, missiles and not much else, he doesn’t need it though, being as fast as he is you may well run out of ammunition before Rusty even takes a hit so go in with a strategy and use the buildings to inflict splash damage if you won’t use a blade.

"Honest" Brute

Requirements: Complete Mission 22: Attack the Old Spaceport.
Rewards: $80,000, 4 OST Chips.

Honest brute is a pyromaniac who utilises hard hitting fire streams very effectively as he tries to burn you out of the Arena where, if you allow him to stagger you he will then come in and half your health bar with a very powerful melee attack.

Dodge back away from the fire as best as you can and send your own rounds through the fire towards the AC as the fire is powerful but it’s not powerful enough to prevent your lock-on weaponry finding their mark.

G2 Nile

Requirements: Complete Mission 26: Destroy the Ice Worm.
Rewards: $83,000, 4 OST Chips.

G2 Nile shouldn’t pose you that many problems as compared to some of the fights you will have had to complete to unlock the fight against Nile there really isn’t a comparison.

Especially if you use some of the new gear you can purchase once you complete Chapter 3.

V.II Snail

Requirements: Complete Mission 26: Destroy the Ice Worm.
Rewards: $85,000 4 OST Chips.

V.II Snail is the leader of the Arquebus Group and he fights like it as well with heavy hitting electric discharge attacks all of which can quickly build up your stagger leaving you open to attack.

Also, given the fact he’s called “snail” he’s very quick which is ironic. Fortunately, he’s not super agile like some other opponents you will have taken down so achieving target lock is fairly simple.

Build up stagger then punish this pompous “Ally” until you drop him for good.

Chartreuse

Requirements: Complete Mission 26: Destroy the Ice Worm..
Rewards: $87,000, 4 OST Chips.

Chartreuse is a very tough opponent who likes to hover and zip around in the air whilst sending missiles and blasts with a laser shotgun that comes out in a wide spread making it hard to dodge.

Any lock on weaponry you have will help here as will weapons such as the Laser Lance (VE-67LLA Laser Lance) and Songbirds (Songbirds Grenade Cannon) for when Chartreuse is staggered to inflict heavy damage.

Keep yourself in a mid-heavy build for this one so you’re small enough to dodge the attacks but strong enough if any do connect then propel yourself forward to punish or fly up to meet the AC for a dogfight of sorts.

Thumb Dolmayan

Requirements: Complete Mission 26: Destroy the Ice Worm.
Rewards: $90,000, 4 OST Chips.

Thumb Dolmayan is another pyromaniac who leaves lingering fire streaks across the arena usually just as you’re about to go in for an attack then as you’re sitting there staggered he will come and smack your health bar away with dual blade attacks.

Combine his heavy hitting attacks with some high agility and defence means you have a tough battle on your hands here.

For me I went in with fast weaponry including dual laser cannons, a laser lance then something to keep the stagger meter building like a Machine Gun although and fast, tracking weaponry will work well here.

Avoid the lingering fire as much as you can and focus on building up Dolmayan’s stagger allowing you to punish until you clear Rank A by taking this dude down.

King

Requirements: Complete Mission 29: Underground Exploration – Depth 3.
Rewards: $95,000, 6 OST Chips.

King is a glass cannon, he hits very hard but also has a very low defence which he tries to counter with a shield. Given the enemies you need to take down in the story to get the fight against King to unlock I’d be surprised if he gave you any trouble at all to bring down.

He hits very hard but as long as you can get target lock, send your best attacks into him and watch his health bar strip chunks off, go for a decent melee weapon if you’re struggling but compared to the Enforcer boss you take down before this Arena match becomes available, King should have been named Jester.

G1 Michigan

Requirements: Complete Mission 29: Underground Exploration – Depth 3.
Rewards: $97,000, 6 OST Chips.

G1 Michigan is the leader of the Redguns and is a formidable foe, however, compared to most bosses in the story, he isn’t. I think these Arena matches are a bit backwards as the opponents you need to take down in order to unlock them are a lot tougher than the foes themselves.

Avoid the missiles, build up stagger then punish when staggered. If you’re struggling go for a melee build and laser cannons to inflict heavy damage but like I’ve said a few time now, compared to those you need to defeat to get to this fight, it’s nothing more than an inconvenient break from the main game.

Still, I’ll never turn down easy OST Chips.

V.I Freud

Requirements: Complete Mission 29: Underground Exploration – Depth 3.
Rewards: $100,000, 6 OST Chips.

V.I Frued is the final Arena fight you can do in the main game and he is a tough fight mainly due to the missiles and the laser drone tht rains laser attacks down you and is very challenging to avoid.

Coming in with a mid-heavy build will help you sustain more damage and as long as you bring in powerful tracking melee weaponry as well as some decent, hard hitting weaponry on your back you will be King of the Arena soon enough.

Once you have taken down the 29 initial opponents in the Arena, you will unlock Testing Complete, now start New Game + whilst aiming for the Liberator of Rubicon Ending where you will unlock 9 of the remaining 12 opponents which you can see by checking out the Arena Analysis tests.

That’s how to complete the Armored Core VI: Fires Of Rubicon Arena Aptitude Tests, I hope they helped you take down all 29 opponents in the Arena.
