Go up the stairs from the Forest of Ferocity shrine pass the Snake Herbalist then take a right and defeat the training Monks quickly and efficiently as if they all attack you at the same time you will be back at the shrine before the Commander even has a chance to take a swing so use powerful AOE attacks such as the Apramana Bat Spirit or Second Rat Prince Spirit then remove any remaining Soldiers quickly leaving you free to take on the Beetle Commander one on one which makes the fight so much easier even then though don’t get complacent as the Commander has the power to rip chunks from your health bar with every hit.
You will need to avoid swipes and slashes some of which have delays to them or will combo into other attacks. All in all this can be a sporadic boss to deal with who mixes things up and has a high defence as well just to make things that bit more challenging but the real challenge lies in taking down his troop whilst avoiding the boss attacks, if you can manage that efficiently then the boss will fall to your skills soon enough. Use the Ebon Flow or Umbral Abyss Transformations to give you an edge if needs be as Yin Tiger can stagger the Commander and the Macaque Chief is quick enough to dodge then powerful enough to deal some decent damage.
