Before we get into the Captain Wise-Voice boss guide you firstly need to ensure before taking him down that you have collected the highly missable Auspicious Lantern Curios if trophies are your thing, if you defeat Captain Wise-Voice then the Mani Wheel will stop and the Lantern Wardens will disappear until your next playthrough. So once you have the Auspicious Lantern Curios or if you aren’t bothered about trophies then go across the bridge from the Outside the Wheel shrine and get ready for a strange boss who can one shot you if you get complacent.
From the start of the fight the Captain will come at you hard and heavy so attack its legs as best as you can and seeing as this is a 1 stage fight (boss won’t respawn) you can unleash your best skills starting with your Transformation which you can have recharging through the rest of the fight which can be a long one considering you won’t be able to reach the Captain’s weak spot until you take its legs out so use Cloud Step and jumping heavy attacks to bring it down to its side then punish the orb for critical damage.
Attack wise, Captain Wise-Voice has a lot in its arsenal including strafing lasers, stomps, thrashes, swipes, kicks and a roar designed to stagger your character all of which can come in quick succession meaning stamina management is very important otherwise you won’t be able to dodge through the attacks which can fill large sections of the arena.
A nasty attack the Captain will do is a very large AOE where lasers coming shooting out of the ground, they do make circles first so they’re essentially telegraphed but given the wide spread and amount it can be easy to dodge one just to get slapped by another before the game will allow another dodge, try and transform when this attack happens as the animation grants immunity for a second or 2 which can help save some health.
As for the one shot I mentioned earlier, Wise-Voice will rear up, slam all 4 legs into the ground which sends the Destined One into the air where you will then be subjected to an incredibly hard hitting laser which shoots you into the wall, this attack will send you up to the ceiling so that when you slam down to the ground you will take additional damage. You need to either heal or Cloud Step immediately as the follow up attacks come quickly and will easily have you back at the shrine.
Continue your assault on the legs until you can put the boss down on its side then use your hardest hitting attacks to cripple the head until you manage to take the win. Surprisingly challenging fight this one.
