Location: The Webbed Ridge, Webbed Hollow, Verdure Bridge.

The Elder Armourworm can be found by crossing the walkway from the Verdure Bridge then going left which will initiate a cutscene where 2 lanterns are cut down. Go into the room on your right and loot all of the chests to receive some very useful items for the next chapter then go through the cocoons at the back of the cave and drop down into the Armourworm’s arena starting the fight. If you have fought any other Armourworms throughout the Webbed Ridge the Elder has a fairly similar move set and will slam, the ground several times but this is fairly easy to avoid especially if you use Pillar Stance and have high stamina.
The only real point of concern in the fight is the Venom the Elder releases as it slams as this can linger inflicting Venom Bane which ticks your health down over time making you vulnerable to more damage. Given the limited range of the Armourworm you should easily be able to back away, heal then get back in there with your own attacks.
Once the Elder Armourworm has been defeated you will receive the Proto-Armourworm which you can deliver to Chen Loong in the Zodiac Village then, by feeding the Armourworm 3 Rice Cocoons you will be able to collect the Armourworm Spirit.
