Black Myth Wukong The New West Spirits

Here we will go over all of the Black Myth Wukong The New Wind Spirits of which there are 14 spread through the third Chapter in the game, 6 are found from bosses with the rest being obtainable by taking down specific enemies. Spirits are designed to give you 1 or more passive buffs or boosts to your abilities as well as having a given use case which is more often than not combat based to inflict specific, enemy based damage on your opponent(s).

Once an enemy has been defeated you need to go up to the hovering Spirt and press R2 where your Gourd will absorb the Spirit allowing you to use it. If you are killed before you can retrieve a Spirit or just don’t collect it then a new menu will appear at Shrine for Uncollected Spirits. The 14 Spirits you can find in The New West, their locations, abilities, buffs and the order I recommend going for them are:

  1. Mountain Patroller.
  2. Fungiman.
  3. Enslaved Yaksha.
  4. Blade Monk.
  5. Falcon Hermit.
  6. Apramana Bat.
  7. Red-Haired Yaksha.
  8. Non-White.
  9. Non-Able.
  10. Crow Diviner.
  11. Old Ginseng Guai.
  12. Clay Vajra.
  13. Non-Pure.
  14. Non-Void.

Mountain Patroller

Location: The New West, Snowhill Path, Frost-Clad Path.
Ability: Swift Leap. Qi Cost: Moderate. Passive Effect: Slightly increases Critical Hit Chance of Jump Heavy Attacks.
Continue through the Frost-Clad Path to the area where you take down the Macaque Chief boss then continue through to the back of the area going down the stairs. Clear out the frozen enemies quickly before they wake up to ambush you then defeat the Mountain Patroller.

Fungiman

Location: The New West, Pagoda Realm, Lower Pagoda.
Ability: Whirl. Qi Cost: High. Passive Effect: Moderately increases the recovery speed of Might.
Once you’re in the Pagoda Realm go round to the first floor then look to the left of the staircase to find a Snake Head Mushroom you can harvest. Upon doing so it will cause Fungiman to spawn who can be tough given their venomous attacks.

Enslaved Yaksha

Location: The New West, Pagoda Realm, Lower Pagoda.
Ability: Mutilate. Qi Cost: High. Passive Effect: Grants a moderate amount of Focus when hit.
The Enslaved Yaksha will be in a cell on the first floor from the Lower Pagoda Shrine just to the left after crossing the wooden beam, however, you won’t be able to access the cell until you have beaten the Captain Lotus-Vision boss which removes the purple cells from the Pagoda Realm. With that done, enter the cell then defeat the Enslaved Yaksha absorbing its Spirit once you’re done.

Blade Monk

Location: The New West, Pagoda Realm, Outside the Wheel.
Ability: Slaughter. Qi Cost: High. Passive Effect: Moderately increases Attack for a short duration after defeating an enemy.
Head up through the Pagoda Realm to the snow covered area then rather than going left, go right and drop down into a hidden section of the prison. Go through to the end and defeat the Blade Monk who will be near the edge of the abyss.

Falcon Hermit

Location: The New West, Pagoda Realm Snow-Veiled Trail.
Ability: Frosty Wind. Qi Cost: High. Passive Effect: Moderately increases Frost Damage.
From the Snow-Veiled Trail Shrine go North up the hill taking out the enemies as you go or running pass them with Cloud Step. Take a right then look up to the rocks where the powerful, Falcon Hermit will spawn. Defeat it any way you can then absorb the Spirit.

Apramana Bat

Location: The New West, Bitter Lake, North Shore of Bitter Lake.
Ability: Frost Blade. Qi Cost: High. Passive Effect: None.
The Apramana Bat Spirit is a strange one as you firstly need to defeat the optional and missable Apramana Bat boss which I recommend doing as soon as you are off the Turtle and on the North Shore of the Bitter Lake, go East all the way to the graveyard and defeat the Apramana Bat boss. However, you won’t be able to acquire the Apramana Bat Spirit until after you have defeated the Yellowbrow boss which concludes the New West chapter.

Red-Haired Yaksha

Location: The New West, Bitter Lake, Precept Corridor.
Ability: Pushing Arrow. Qi Cost: High. Passive Effect: Moderately increases Heavy Attack Damage.
Once Zhu Bajie leaves your party after getting offended by the Buddha you will need to follow the path through the mountain caves. Standing directly in your path will be the Red-Haired Yaksha. Defeat it then absorb the Spirit.

Non-White

Location: The New West, Valley of Ecstasy, Mindfulness Cliff.
Ability: Bone Spikes. Qi Cost: High. Passive Effect: Moderately increases Poison and Frost Damage.
The Non-White boss is a mandatory boss you need to take down across 3 phases, the first time he will ambush you just pass the Mindfulness Cliff Shrine, you can then chase him up the mountain where he will attack you with Cryo followed by Venom banes, defeat him to be able to absorb his Spirit.

Non-Able

Location: The New West, Valley of Ecstasy, Brook of Bliss.
Ability: Seasoned Punch. Qi Cost: Low. Passive Effect: Slightly increases Attack, Critical Hit Chance, and Critical Damage, but massively reduces Maximum Mana.
Non-Able is an optional boss who you can find meditating in an ice field North of the Brook of Bliss shrine in the Valley of Ecstasy and can be a tough opponent to take down as it is a 2 phase boss. Defeat the Non-Able boss then absorb his Spirit once he’s down.

Crow Diviner

Location: The New West, Valley of Ecstasy, Brook of Bliss.
Ability: Frigid Fragrance. Qi Cost: Moderate. Passive Effect: Moderately increases Chill Resistance.
The Crow Diviner is a fairly tough opponent who is waiting for you on the frozen lake just South of the Brook of Bliss shrine. Take the bird down then absorb its Spirit.

Old Ginseng Guai

Location: The New West, Valley of Ecstasy, Towers of Karma.
Ability: Ginseng Root. Qi Cost: High. Passive Effect: Moderately increases the Maximum Health of summoned minions.
The Old Ginseng Guai boss is an optional one you can find from the Towers of Karma shrine in the Village of Ecstasy accessible by dropping down when the Apramana Bat attacks you on the main path as you make your way to the Longevity Road shrine. Harvest the Ginseng in the centre of the frozen pool to spawn the boss then defeat him allowing you to absorb the Spirit.

Clay Vajra

Location: The New West, New Thunderclap Temple, Temple Entrance.
Ability: Flames of Doom. Qi Cost: Moderate. Passive Effect: Moderately increases Burn Resistance.
Once you have access to the New Thunderclap Temple, go forward into the main courtyard where the Clay Vajra will be waiting for you on the main path. Put it down then absorb the Spirit.

Non-Pure

Location: The New West, New Thunderclap Temple, Temple Entrance.
Ability: Precept Upholder. Qi Cost: High. Passive Effect: Moderately increases Damage Reduction for a short duration after performing Rock Solid.
The Non-Pure Spirit will drop from the optional Non-Pure boss who is found in the left building as you come down the stairs having rested at the Mahavira Shrine. Defeat it then absorb the Spirit.

Non-Void

Location: The New West, Valley of Ecstasy, Forest of Felicity.
Ability: Flash Step. Qi Cost: Low. Passive Effect: Recovers a moderate amount of Stamina when being hit.
Before you can collect the Non-Void Spirit you will firstly need to have collected the Snow Fox Brush from the corpse just by the Forest of Felicity Shrine then go through to the New Thunderclap Temple, use the Snow Fox Brush to transform into the bloody Fox and go into the building on the far left of the Temple to find the Non-Void boss. Defeat him then absorb the Spirit.

That’s all of the Black Myth Wukong The New West Spirits, which one did you find the most challenging to collect?.
