Here we will go over how to complete all of the Borderlands 4 Carcadia Burn side missions of which there are 19 spread throughout the second region in the game. Side Missions can be as small as doing a fetch quest or they can be more intricate than some main missions, you will need to complete every side mission as you work towards unlocking Grassroots Campaigner. Below I will list off all of the Side Missions you can access in Carcadia Burn and to help you keep track of them I’ll place them in alphabetical order with their locations and potential rewards listed as well as a video showing you how to work through each of the side missions.
Side Missions
A Traitor Within
Location: Carcadia Burn, Ruined Sumplands.
Rewards: X31,687xp, $2,000, 5 Eridium, Crank Shotgun, Middle Name “Danger” ECHO-4 Paintjob.
Speak to Levaine then go off and farm some Thresher Eggs and Pangolin Spit before taking out the Order. You then need to deliver the food and get over to the base which will have a LOT of Order come for you and it can be tough to get through so bring your best gear and put everything down. Enter the cockpit and line up the shots to destroy the pieces of code before taking the drive you need to give to Levaine which then concludes this side mission.
And Welcome To The Jam
Location: Carcadia Burn, Tonnage Peel.
Rewards: 12,966xp, $6,000, 10 Eridium.
Make your up to the top of the rock formation then interact with the Datapad to begin the And Welcome to the Jam side mission which tasks you with collecting 2 parts whilst taking out a few waves of enemies. You need to collect the first piece on the end of the fallen pylon then the next from the circuit board. Return thee parts to the satellite dish you can then activate to bring the best B-Ball player down for a quick chat. Once
Broken Ships
Location: Carcadia Burn, Ruined Sumplands.
Rewards: x19,804xp, $1,000, 5 Eridium.
Speak to Zane after you have unlocked Mole Money, Mole Problems then head over to the marker and melee the 3 corpses then get back to Zane before clearing out the rendezvous site. Grab the Ripper Axe as a gift for Zane then clear out the Rendezvous again before mantling up to the terminal which needs to be hacked to let Levaine and Zane out from their conjugal visit they’ve been enjoying which then concludes the side mission.
Enter The Electi Part 1
Location: Carcadia Burn, Ruined Sumplands.
Rewards: 19,754xp, $750, 2 Eridium.
Speak to Leader Kassandra who will task you with exterminating some pests which are various versions of Creeps so get over there and clear the field. You can then collect the 3 food crates which need returning to the main building in front of the vending machines to conclude this short side mission.
Enter The Electi Part 2
Location: Carcadia Burn, Ruined Sumplands.
Rewards: x754,271xp, $20,146, 2 Eridium.
Speak to Leader Willem then collect his device and place it in the 5 marked spots. Return to Willem and press the button to conclude this side mission.
Fault Hunting
Location: Carcadia Burn, Ruined Sumplands.
Rewards: 21,431xp, $2,502, 8 Eridium, Memetic Uttered Schema Assault Rifle, Eternal Defender Weapon Skin.
The Fault Hunting side mission is one which will start in one district, end in another and will hold a powerful boss and a lot of enemies to take down along the way so ensure you are decently levelled and appropriately kitted out before attempting this one then once you’re ready go and speak to Leopold to begin the mission. Head over to the cave and drop down through the area to the cave with the vent on the floor you can use to get up to the facility. Inside you will need to shoot the canister on the other side of the malfunctioning door then go through to the central console.
Move the overhead cables around to make the circuit then interact with the console and watch the cutscene with Zadra. You now need to leave so exit right, follow the path up and back to the entrance then open your map and fast travel if you can down to the West side of Lopside and drop down off the cliffs down to the entrance of the main facility where Genone is waiting for you. Interact with the console after taking the Synths down then move the overhead cables with your tether to make the circuit which will be a lot easier if you go to the door then trace the cables back to the source.
You can then go through the rest of the base, use the vending machines to replenish your ammo and sell any other gear then drop down and take on Genone who will have a heavy entourage of Synths which are usually Badasses. You will need to work quick taking down Genone as it can easily regenerate health so ignore the mobs for the most part and bring him down. You can then get the keycard, go through to the final room and power down the AI once and for all which then concludes the side mission.
Her Own Funeral
Location: Carcadia Burn, Ruined Sumplands.
Rewards: 13,344xp, $750, 5 Eridium.
You will need to find several Echo Logs which are scattered throughout Carcadia Burn as you listen to Nehali’s descent into madness as she tries to become the Ripper Queen. Once you then collect Nehali’s Bolt from the table she will emerge from the darkness and attack you so implement some self defence and kill her to conclude the side mission.
Imminent Jest
Location: Carcadia Burn, Lopside.
Rewards: 8,615xp, $1,000.
The Imminent Jest mission can be started by speaking with Jankus, a badass psycho who wants to prank his brother so get over to the marker and shoot the pipe. You then need to speak to and prank Crankus’ brother by pulling the air conditioning off the roof so get that done. Return to Crankus and tell him about his dead brother then take them both out after they ambush you to conclude the side mission.
PB&J
Location: Carcadia Burn, Grindstone of the Worthy.
Rewards: 19,754 XP, $750, 2 Eridium.
Speak to PJ who will task you with collecting The J which is on a buoy across on the the adjacent island. Return the J to the shelf behind PJ then speak with PJ who will jump into the water and drown concluding this side mission.
Potty Mouth
Location: Carcadia Burn, Lopside.
Rewards: 31,787xp, $2,000, 5 Eridium, rewards chest containing a Shotgun and the ECHO-IVIV Frame.
Speak to the toilet then the leader and back to the toilet before summoning Claptrap in who will then transfer GEN-IVIV to his database. Head to the Order base and clear everyone out before going through and collecting the Prototype Drone. You then need to go through some basic transferring dialogue which causes GEN-IVIV to go on a killing spree so help her with it ensuring everything is dead. From there you will need to kill all copies of GEN-IVIV then take the AI chip to Moxxi’s Bottoms Up bar and choose to either delete or place GEN-IVIV in jukebox purgatory to complete the side mission.
Primordial Vault: Carcadia Burn
Location: Carcadia Burn.
Rewards: 27,468xp, $1,000, 8 Eridium.
Before you can begin the Primordial Vault: Carcadia Burn side mission you will firstly need to open the Vault of Radix then with that done you can accept the side mission inside the Vault which I don’t recommend until you are heavily geared. You will need to fight through waves of enhanced Order enemies before getting to the Primordial Guardian Radix boss who you need to take down. Interact with the orb after the fight then loot the chests and go through the portal to conclude the side mission.
Ripples And Rituals
Location: Carcadia Burn, Tonnage Peel.
Rewards: 13,216xp, $11,000, 22 Eridium.
Before beginning the Ripples and Rituals side quest ensure you have a decent health pool and high shield as well as a decent Repkit equipped as once you accept you will need to drop down into the pool of acid and survive for 25 seconds. You will get the occasional enemy show up to get a Second Wind from but overall it’s a pain so survive the trial then get back up to the console.
The second challenge will task you with slamming down on 3 pressure plates which you need to do quickly before the timer runs out. Stand on a pad then double jump and pound down to deactivate the pad which may take a few times to do but with a bit of practice you’ll get there. You then need to get yourself over to the Ripper Camp and take down Steve, a powerful Mutant who brings an entourage of Rippers with him. You can then collect Steve’s Echo Log to conclude the side mission.
The Council Divided
Location: Carcadia Burn, Ruined Sumplands.
Rewards: x31,687xp, $2,000, 5 Eridium, Truncheon Assault Rifle, Middle Name “Danger” Vault Hunter Style.
Speak to Levaine then destroy the “armoury” before going and collecting the bombs you then need to place on the side of the structures whilst dealing with the Rippers. Mantle up then place the detonator and destroy the ships before dealing with Meat Meat who will drop an Echo Log you need to collect revealing the traitor in the Electi. Levaine will overhear the conversation and thank you for your efforts concluding the side mission.
The Mole's Gambit
Location: Carcadia Burn, Ruined Sumplands.
Rewards: x31,787xp, $2,500, 8 Eridium, GCX SMG, Cursed to Live Vault Hunter Head.
Speak to Levaine then destroy the 5 relays in the local area, you then need to go and find the 3 EMP parts, 1 large ball, a small cluster of electronics and an antenna up high on the ledge. You then need to find and hack the convoy after taking out all of the Order who spawn in which then reveals the location of an Order depot you will need to get to, clear then build the EMP inside of whilst dealing with an Army of Synths. You can then get to Willem who needs defeating before returning to Levaine to conclude this side mission.
The Power Ballad Of Rodd Vomit
Location: Carcadia Burn, Grindstone of the Worthy.
Rewards: 31,787xp, $2,000.
The Power Ballad of Rodd Vomit side quest will task you with firstly speaking with Lisa who is in an underground stage looking for some talent for her new band, the Thrump Dumps and she needs your help to track and detain the members she deems worthy enough to audition. Go to each of the locations and take out the enemies before dealing with the wannabe stars using the digi-dongles to incapacitate them. Return to Lisa then listen to the show before killing them all to conclude the side mission.
Vend Of The Line
Location: Carcadia Burn, Ruined Sumplands.
Rewards: x31,787xp, $3,000.
Vend of the Line is a side mission which links into a highly missable trophy, All Things Vend, it is imperative that you DO NOT BUY A LEGENDARY after defeating Vend Zane otherwise you will need to try for All Things Vend on a different playthrough. Refer to the All Things Vend guide for a full breakdown of what’s required to complete the Vend of the Line side mission which you need to ensure doesn’t conclude until you have collected the Photo of Zane and Levaine and then have spoken to Penelope Streams over comms to complete this side mission.
Vicious News Cycle: Cannon Fodder
Location: Carcadia Burn, Grindstone of the Worthy.
Rewards: x20,054xp, $8,500, 15 Eridium, chest full of weapons.
Speak to Penelope Streams then turn the crank twice and pull the lever to launch Zink who will then claim to have found something so get over to his position and open the chest to conclude this side mission.
Vicious News Cycle: Hot Tag
Location: Carcadia Burn, Ruined Sumplands.
Rewards: x1,000xp, 1 Eridium.
Speak to Penelope Streams then enter the ring and melee the Bowel Buster. If you do use guns or are down like I was in the video then Dave will enter the ring and you will have to defeat him as well but you’ll be weapons free at that point so it won’t take much to put him down.
Vicious News Cycle: Mine Time Live
Location: Carcadia Burn, Ruined Sumplands.
Rewards: None.
Get to the location which automatically accepts and tracks the side mission then swim over to the rock and detonate the mine to conclude this side mission.
