Borderlands 4 Legendary Assault Rifles

Work In Progress

Here we will go over where you can find all of the Borderlands 4 Legendary Assault Rifles which for the most part are decent sized magazines providing a high degree of accuracy and can lay down some serious damage against any opponents. Legendaries are some of the best items you can equip in Borderlands 4 and for the most part they are incredibly powerful / useful items which can carry you through some of the tougher missions. Don’t get me wrong them some of the legendary Assault Rifles in Borderlands 4 are complete duds and whose only use is to be sold save for some strict use cases.

Bare in mind there are many variations of Assault Rifles but the base name will always be the same. The prefix will determine the type of attachments that a given gun will have, you might have a completely different prefix which can lead to some confusion but ultimately the legendary itself will have varying levels of efficacy based on the prefix you receive. The Legendary Assault Rifles I have managed to find in Borderlands 4 so far are:

Aegon's Dream

Location: RNG drop from Gun Vending Machines.
Ability: Prophetic.
Brand: Vladof.
Synopsis: Aegon’s Dream is a top tier Assault Rifle which fires a full magazine of sticky rounds which latch on to a target before exploding dealing incredible damage. If you’re lucky enough to find an elemental version then you’re pretty much set for most of the game. Outstanding Assault Rifle in every way.

Bonnie And Clyde

Location: RNG drop from Red Weapons Chests.
Ability: Pair of Thieves, on kill, grants +100% damage for the gun’s other mode and refills its magazine.
Brand: Jakobs.
Synopsis: The Bonnie and Clyde is a Devilishly good Assault Rifle with its Alt Mode being a Shotgun that is fully reloaded and deals double damage when you get a kill with the AR. Conversely the Assault Rifle then deals 100% damage when you get a kill with the Shotgun meaning this thing is a pure death machine. Incredibly good crown control Assault Rifle / Shotgun hybrid that just cleans house at every given opportunity.

Bugbear

Location: RNG drop from The Battle Wagon at the, The Lowering March Ripper Drill Site.
Ability: Rotary Gun, scales up to +100% damage and +200% damage radius based on the emptiness of the magazine.
Brand: Torgue.
Synopsis: The bugbear is a good mid tier Assault Rifle with a decent rate of fire and explosive rounds. The Alt fire mode is very good as you can hold down the fire button for a quick missile airstrike which can cause a lot of damage and is incredibly good at crowd control. It’s not top tier because of the small mag but overall, the Bugbear will get you out of some scrapes.

Chuck

Location: RNG drop from Splashzone.
Ability: Pitcher.
Brand: Tediore.
Synopsis: The Chuck is a weird gun as it won’t fire bullets, what you will do instead is throw the gun on the ground which then becomes a turret that homes in on enemies in the local area. It’s a decent enough Assault Rifle and a bit of fun but when things get hectic, I’d chuck the Chuck back in the box and get something else out that can do some decent damage.

Cold Shoulder

Location: Tip Moxxi a few grand until she gives you the Cold Shoulder at Moxxi’s Bottoms Up in Carcadia Burn,
Ability: Iced Out.
Brand: Torgue.
Synopsis: The Cold Shoulder is quite simply a crap Assault Rifle and one I don’t recommend you wasting a penny on getting as it’s a single fire AR which by definition severely limits the amount of “assaulting” you can do whilst also dealing minimal damage and overall it’s just not worth bothering with. You need to give this gun its namesake. The Could Shoulder.

Divided Focus

Location: Weapons chest after the Driller Hole fight but it’s RNG from any red weapons chest.
Ability: Conqueror, Fires bouncing projectiles that pierce enemies.
Brand: Tediore.
Synopsis: A really good AR as long as you’re in a tight space like a cave or room with a good amount of enemies around you. A lot less effective outside or against single target enemies.

G.M.R.

Location: RNG drop from Driller Hole.
Ability: Big Name Hunter, when zoomed in, damage increases by +100%, shot cost increases by 100% and fire rate decreases by -50%.
Brand: Order.
Synopsis: The G.M.R. is a very good Assault and Sniper Rifle hybrid which fires nice and fast from the hip then when some accuracy is required and you ADS you then get precision shots which hit nice and hard. The AR won’t light your World on fire but it’s definitely on the border of top tier as powerful Assault Rifles go.

Goalkeeper

Location: RNG drop from red Weapons Chests.
Ability: Amper Camper: When Gun Shield is depleted, grants +50% damage for 15 seconds.
Brand: Order.
Synopsis: The Goalkeeper is an insanely hard hitting Assault Rifle with a very nice alt fire mode that sends a few missiles off to seek out targets and deal a lot of damage. Unlike most Order weaponry which needs to  be charged up then fired, the Goalkeeper will rapid fire as fast as you can press the trigger then if you do want to fire a full charge you can charge the weapon to send 5 rounds into your target. Very, very good AR this one.

Lumberjack

Location: RNG drop from any Weapons Vending Machine as item of the day.
Ability: Timber.
Brand: Daedalus.
Synopsis: The Lumberjack is a powerful Assault Rifle which fires saw blades that are highly effective against single target enemies, the fire rate is fairly decent but nothing about this AR is top tier but that said it is in the mid tier so if you don’t have anything better it will definitely be a decent gun to have equipped especially if you get one in the early game.

Lucian's Flank

Location: RNG drop from the Meathead Riders at the, The Old Scrape Ripper Drill Site in Terminus Range.
Ability: Trample, critical hits refill up to 2 ammo to the gun’s magazine.
Brand: Vladof.
Synopsis: The Lucian’s Flank is a mid tier Assault Rifle which can switch between full auto and double barrel even with the magazine refill on a crit. This AR isn’t bad in any real way it’s only mid tier because there’s so much better out there. Good if you’ve got one, forgotten once you have better.

Oscar Mike

Location: RNG drop from Red Weapons Chests.
Abilities:

  • Fragcendiary Grenades, [Alt Fire], launches greanades that deal 11,131 Incendiary damage and spawn a fire hazard.
  • Tactical Rounds, the first half of your magazine deals +50% bonus damage.

Brand: Daedalus.
Synopsis: The Oscar Mike is a beast providing whatever you’re shooting at is on the ground and is also weak or neutral to fire damage which is the majority of enemies in the game. Those Fragcendiary grenades just melt anything in their path, it is like bringing a portable furnace then as long as you try to keep half an eye on your magazine then reload before it gets under half you will always be dealing +50% damage to everything you hit. Beasty little Assault Rifle and the colour is slick as you like as well. Get one then go melty!.

Potato Thrower IV

Location: RNG drop from the Voraxis boss at the back of the Timid Kyle’s Neglected Opening Auger Mine in the Fadefields.
Ability: Spud Gun.
Brand: Torgue.
Synopsis: If you have every played a Borderlands game from 2 onwards you will have come across Mr. Torgue, a gigantic bodybuilder who is all about explosions. This is the quintessential Torgue style gun I was hoping to find as it rapidly fires baked potatoes which explode on contact dealing high damage and looking pretty damn cool as well. Tough Mine to get through in order to go up against Voraxis but once you’re there. Farm for one of these, it’s a Spud gun on some Gorilla sized steroids!.

Rowan's Charge

Location: RNG drop from Gun vending machines.
Ability: Stalker: Grants a 20% chance for shots to be a critical hit, and refunds 2 ammo on critical hit.
Brand: Jakobs.
Synopsis: The Rowan’s Call is pretty good especially as it can switch between Sticky and Crank firing modes. If you ADS and get a critical hit then you instantly get 2 ammo added to your current magazine so if you are up against a boss with a decently sized weak point like Vile Lictor then you can inflict a severe amount of damage before needing to reload.

Star Helix

Location: RNG drop from the Primordial Guardian Timekeeper.
Ability: Constellation, projectiles can be fired vertically or horizontally.
Brand: Daedalus.
Synopsis: The Star Helix is a monster when it comes to dealing with Kratch or any type of flying enemy as you can change the fire mode between horizontal and vertical meaning however the Kratch are flying you can index to hit them. It’s also pretty good at crowd control for the same reason although horizontal will be better for those enemies with boots on the ground purely for the penetrative spread.

Whiskey Foxtrot

Location: RNG drop from the Bio-Bulkhead story boss.
Ability: Scrap Cannon, fires a spread of shrapnel from the Underbarrel that deals 176×6 damage and increases target’s taken damage taken for 4 seconds.
Brand: Vladof.
Synopsis: If you are looking for a highly accurate, hard hitting AR with a decent sized mag and plenty of increased damage utility then spend the time farming the Whiskey Foxtrot. That additional damage you gain from the scrap alt fire is incredibly effective against larger enemies and bosses.

Wombo Combo

Location: RNG drop from the Rippa Roadbirds bosses at the Saw’s Clench Ripper Drill Site.
Ability: Rip Rockets, rockets automatically fire from the Underbarrel.

That’s all of the Borderlands 4 Legendary Assaults I have found so far, do you know of any I’m missing? Let me know.
