Borderlands 4 Legendary Shotguns

Here we will go over where you can find all of the Borderlands 4 Legendary Shotguns which are the main damage dealers in Borderlands 4 seeing how the developers made the strange decision to omit Rocket Launchers. Legendaries are some of the best items you can equip in Borderlands 4 and for the most part they are incredibly powerful / useful items which can carry you through some of the tougher missions. Don’t get me wrong them some of the legendary Shotguns in Borderlands 4 are complete duds and whose only use is to be sold save for some strict use cases.

Bare in mind there are many variations of Shotguns but the base name will always be the same. The prefix will determine the type of attachments that a given gun will have, you might have a completely different prefix which can lead to some confusion but ultimately the legendary itself will have varying levels of efficacy based on the prefix you receive.

Legendary Shotguns

The Legendary Shotguns I have managed to find in Borderlands 4 so far are:

Anarchy

Location: RNG drop from Primordial Guardian Radix.
Ability: Mutualism, on auto-reload or kill, grants +15% damage and -15% accuracy for a maximum of 20 stacks, which reset on manual reload.
Brand: Tediore.
Synopsis: The Anarchy Shotgun is pretty good, it’s not top tier by any means but what it does it does very well. On the Alt Fire it has an Atlas Tracker Dart which really does track the rounds very well as you can see in the video below, the whole auto / manual reload thing is a bit weird and not really worth worrying about as given the main fire is sticky you need to reload to cause any damage. Not so good against mobs but against bosses and elites, this thing wrecks.

Armored Bod

Location: RNG drop from Axemaul in the, The Toil of Spoiling Vis Auger Mine.
Ability: All-Arounder, counts as a Shotgun, an Assault Rifle, a Sniper Rifle, a Pistol and an SMG.
Brand: Daedalus.
Synopsis: The Armored Bod is a fairly unique weapon as it will be able to pull bonuses for all weapon types in the game so what that means is if you have a Class Mod which boosts SMG fire rate and an Enhancement which boosts Assault Rifle damage, where the Armored Bod has the All-Arounder ability it will gain the bonuses of each buff which means you can seriously scale up the damage. Very good Shotgun this!.

Convergence

Location: RNG drop from Bramblesong in the Bittervein Auger Mine.
Ability: Asymptotic.
Brand: Ripper.
Synopsis: The Convergence is a beast of a Shotgun which fires hard hitting rounds on full auto and given the large magazine size you can lay down some serious hurt on anything stupid enough to get in your way. There are good Shotguns in Borderlands 4 then there are Shotguns like Convergence which just stands head and shoulders above the competition. Get up to Northern Terminus Range and farm Bramblesong until you get one of these. Thank me later.

Forsaken Chaos

Location: RNG reward from Red Weapons Chests.
Ability: Wide Net.
Brand: Tediore.
Synopsis: The Forsaken Chaos is a very good Shotgun which will home in your enemies as you reload and continue to fire down on your enemies until it runs out of charge and with a 25 round magazine its a death dealer this thing. It’s not the most accurate Shotgun in the game though so ensure you get up nice and close then fill your enemies up with lead and watch them fall.

Golden God

Location: RNG reward from the Rippa Roadbirds.
Ability: Rage, when overheating, the Bulletforge does not break, but instead continually consumes greater amounts of ammo.
Brand: Ripper.
Synopsis: The Golden God is a double edged sword as on one hand it will inflict severe damage on that hand it will rinse your ammo reserves very quickly as it scales up in usage the longer you hold the trigger. If you have a maxed out Shotgun SDU and don’t have any other Shotgun equipped then this can be a beast but just know that once the ammo is gone the weapon is essentially useless so aim straight.

Goremaster

Location: RNG reward from Idolator Sol.
Ability: Chief Execution Officer, deals +30% damage to enemies below 30% Health.
Brand: Ripper.
Synopsis: This Shotgun is arguably the best in the game as it has a magazine larger than some Assault Rifles and that 30% damage to enemies who are low health is so good at finishing off Badasses / Bosses that you just need to spend the time farming Idolator Sol for one of these. Absolute God tier Shotgun.

Hellwalker

Location: RNG drop from Gun vending machines.
Ability: Soothsayer.
Brand: Jakobs.
Synopsis: The Hellwalker is an incredibly power DOOM Easter Egg and this thing is jut raw aggression. It only has a 2 round magazine and as it fires 2 shotgun shells at once it is a fire, reload, fire, reload weapon which might not suit everyone but considering the speed of the reload and the immense amount of damage you can inflict this is a gun that shouldn’t be overlooked!.

Hot Slugger

Location: RNG drop from a Gun vending machine.
Ability: Blazing Barrel: On kill, deal +30% damage for 10 seconds for a maximum of 3 stacks.
Brand: Jakobs.
Synopsis: The Hot Slugger is a very powerful single barrel Shotgun which fires once before reloading but the power in that one shot is very good. It isn’t top tier but the speedy reload and high stopping power will deal a lot of damage especially when you start killing enemies as the damage can increase to nearly double with the stacks.

Husky Friend

Location: RNG reward from a World Boss (Evan Horizon for me).
Ability: Husky Auto Turret.
Brand: TEDIORE.
Synopsis: An incredibly good Shotgun which fires out a Husky Turret and give then fact this is a TEDIORE Shotgun you will get an additional explosion from reloading where you throw the gun. This Shotgun isn’t top tier but it’s close. Get one.

Kaleidosplode

Location: RNG drop from the Callous Harbinger of Annihilating Death in the Craven’s Nook Order Bunker.
Ability: Colourful Mess.
Brand: Maliwan.
Synopsis: The Kaleidosplode fires a ball of flashy elemental energy towards your enemies but it does such a small amount of damage to anything it’s not rally worth the time it took for the artists to make this look as good as it does. If you have an enemy weak to the elements it drops in (Cryo and Corrosive for me so 2 of the best) then you might find a use for it but for me, it’s one for the bank.

Kickballer

Location: RNG drop from Sludgemaw in the All Charged Up side mission.
Ability: Force Bunt.
Brand: Maliwan.
Synopsis: A fairly lacklustre Shotgun that only really deals damage whilst in confined spaces and it’s more than likely going to kill you before your enemies, one for the collectors this.

Lead Balloon

Location: RNG drop from the Splashzone story boss.
Ability: Lightweight.
Brand: Torgue.
Synopsis: A half decent Shotgun that rains artillery down on your enemies. It’s hopeless when enemies are above you but if you take the high ground you can rain bombs down on enemies below. The accuracy of it is virtually non existent but the damage of the bombs is fairly good in closed areas.

Linebacker

Location: RNG drop from the Vile Prototype story boss.
Ability: Full Coverage, bouncing projectiles increase damage by +25% and damage radius by +35% per bounce.
Brand: Torgue.
Synopsis: The Linebacker is quite simply the best damage dealing Shotgun I have found in the game and at the time of writing I’m level 50 and have rescued a certain young Siren so I’m at the end game. This Shotty is so powerful and good at crowd control as it fires a series of bombs which bounce forward 5 times an it does just wreck anything caught in the blasts. The fact this gun will increase its damage and the radius per bounce combined with a quick reload and decent magazine this is an absolute God killer. Not very useful against flying enemies but any enemy with boots on the ground won’t be around for long!.

Rainbow Vomit

Location: RNG drop from Red Weapons Chests.
Ability: Colour Spray: Shoots Corrosive, Cryo and Shock droplets.
Brand: Jakobs.
Synopsis: The Rainbow Vomit shoots multi-elemental rounds with a shooting stars as the projectiles and this thing can smack hard when you’re up close. At a distance it’s OK but then again it is a Shotgun so I’d expect more damage the closer you are and you certainly get it here. Given the fact the rounds are tri-elemental there will always be at least 1 element your target(s) will be weak against. Impressive Shotgun this.

Sweet Embrace

Location: Tip Moxxi a few thousand dollars.
Ability: Adoration.
Brand: Maliwan.
Synopsis: Considering you purchase this gun from Moxxi making it one of the easiest Legendaries to get in the game it is pretty damn good with dual elements meaning your opponent will at least be neutral if not weak to one of them and a good amount of power making this a worthwhile choice if you haven’t found a better one as yet. As soon as you get to Moxxi’s Bottoms Up bar get yourself a Sweet Embrace and the Shotgun while you’re at it. Just be aware this thing will make a lot of NSFW references as you take down your enemies so enjoy those.

T.K's Wave

Location: RNG drop from the Rocken Roller boss at the back of the Trinket Crevass Auger Mine.
Ability: Heirloom.
Brand: Jakobs.
Synopsis: The famous T.K’s Wave makes a welcome return in Borderlands 4 and this gun is a mob shredder providing the mobs are lined up in front of you as this thing will fire a wave which goes forward whilst mimicking waves. Don’t aim high with the T.K’s Wave as the peak of the wave will go over the enemies heads missing a lot of targets, instead, aim for centre mass and watch the enemies fall. Very good Shotgun here.

That’s all of the Borderlands 4 Legendary Shotguns I have found so far, do you know of any I’m missing? Let me know.
