Off to a Good Start
Win your first race in the Adventure Mode.
Once you win your first race in Adventure Mode your Trophy will unlock.
Crazier than the Ripper
Win against Ripper Roo in the Adventure Mode.
In order to be able to challenge Ripper Roo, you must first come in first place in the following races;
- Crash Cove
- Roo’s Tubes
- Mystery Caves
- Sewer Speedway
Once you have achieved first place in all 4 courses, you can challenge Ripper Roo who will constantly throw out TNT crates to slow you down.
You need to take first place in the event around Roo’s Tubes which can be achieved by drift boosting (hold R1 to powerslide then when the green bar turns red press Cross) and by taking the shortcut near the end of the course.
As long as you take first place against Ripper Roo, your Trophy will unlock.
Me Fast, You Slow
Win against Papu Papu in the Adventure Mode.
Before you are able to challenge Papu Papu, you must first achieve first place in the following events;
- Coco park
- Papu’s Pyramid
- Dingo Canyon
- Tiger Temple
After you have won all 4 events you are then free to challenge Papu Papu around the Papu’s Pyramid stage.
Avoid the plants at all costs and take care not to stay behind Papu Papu as he will constantly drop green and red vials which can easily ruin your chances of taking the win.
There are several shortcuts throughout the stage so make good use of them.
Once you take the win against Papu Papu, your Trophy will unlock.
Komodone
Win against Komodo Joe in the Adventure Mode.
To be able to challenge Komodo Joe, you will need to come in first place in the following races;
- Blizzard Bluff
- Dragon Mines
- Tiny Arena
- Polar Pass
Once you have managed first place in the 4 events you are then free to go through and challenge Komodo Joe who sends out 5 TNT crates then leaves a Nitro crate right in your way most of the time.
The event takes place in Dragon Mines so make sure you don’t get flattened by the mine cart or fall of the edge of the corkscrew.
Ensure you avoid the Nitro and TNT crates and you should be able to take the win against Komodo Joe after a couple of attempts.
Once you do cross the finish line in first place, your Trophy will unlock.
Why don’t you get a job?
Win against PinStripe in the Adventure Mode.
As always, you need to complete the 4 events before being able to challenge Pinstripe which are as follows;
- N. Gin Labs
- Cortex Castle
- Hot Air Skyway
- Oxide Station
After you have managed first place in all 4 events, go through and challenge Pinstripe on the Hot Air Skyway stage which can be a challenge as you have a near constant threat of falling off the side of the narrow circuit.
On top of that, Pinstripe will be consistently firing rolling bombs at you so getting in front and staying there is imperative to take the win.
Once you have successfully beaten Pinstripe around the Hot Air Skyway course, your Trophy will unlock.
Interstellar Challenge
Win against Nitros Oxide in the Adventure Mode.
Progress through the game until you have defeated the 4 main bosses;
- Ripper Roo
- Papu Papu
- Komodo Joe
- Pinstripe
Afterwards you will be able to take on Nitros Oxide in the Oxide Station course. Oxide will use a variety of power ups throughout the race so getting in front and staying there is vital to take the win.
Once you have beaten Nitros Oxide, your Trophy will unlock.
Galaxy’s Fastest
Defeat Nitros Oxide in the Adventure Mode once and for all.
Before you can challenge Nitros Oxide for the second and final time, you first need to attain 100% completion in the Adventure Mode which requires you to come first in every event, beat every boss, collect all CTR Letters, earn at least a Sapphire Relic across all events where possible, win all 5 Gems and complete the 4 Crystal Challenges.
Once you can go through in to race against Oxide for the second time, get ready for a rough time of it, you are peppered with all manner of power ups.
Stay in front as best as you can then with a good amount of practice you will be able to take the win where your Trophy will unlock.
Arena Explorer
Complete a Crystal Challenge in the Adventure Mode.
Crystal Challenges unlock through the Adventure Mode and require you to collect 20 pink crystals in a short time limit, learn the course, learn the best routes and you’ll be able to collect them all soon enough.
Complete one Crystal Challenge to unlock your Trophy.
Spare Change
Win a CTR challenge in the Adventure Mode.
A CTR challenge will unlock once you have achieved first place in an event and requires you to collect the 3 C T R letters which for the most part, are out of your way.
Complete one CTR challenge to unlock your Trophy.
Sprinter
Win a Relic Race in the Adventure Mode.
Once you have achieved first place on a track you can then go back in and attempt to acquire the relic which will require you to race fast and efficiently, making good use of your boost drift to get through efficiently.
You only need to acquire a Sapphire relic for this one which are the easiest of the relics to earn, where your Trophy will then unlock.
Booyah, Grandma!
Win a Cup Race in the Adventure Mode.
Once you beat Adventure Mode, you will then gain access to the Cup Races, the first one that opens is the Red Gem cup.
As long as win all of the events in the cup, you will then earn the Red Gem, unlocking your Trophy in the process.
Relic Collector
Earn all the Relics in the Adventure Mode.
In total, you have 18 Relics to acquire in the Adventure Mode.
In order to be able to access the Relic race, you need to have first off came in first place in a given course before hand then re-enter a course where you will be given the option to enter the Relic Race.
You need to earn the 18 Sapphire Relics as a minimum for this one, if you can get a better time then great, but it’s not essential.
You will also need to earn all 5 Coloured Gems in the Cup Races before you can access the Turbo Track event in Gem Stone Valley.
Once you have earnt all 18 relics in Adventure Mode, your Trophy will unlock.
Gem Collector
Earn all the Gems in the Adventure Mode.
The Gems are acquired by completing the Cup Races in Gem Stone Valley and need to be completed in order.
The first one, the Red Gem Cup, becomes available once you have beaten the main Adventure Mode and once completed will then open the Green Gem then the Blue Gem and the Yellow Gem.
For the final Gem cup, you will need to collect all CTR letters throughout Adventure Mode where the Purple Gem Cup will then become available.
Earn all 5 Gems to unlock your Trophy.
Token Collector
Earn all the CTR Tokens in the Adventure Mode.
Click the link to go to the complete Token Collector Trophy Guide.
Photo Finish
Win a race with less than 0.3 seconds between you and the second place.
This should come naturally, especially on hard mode given the difficulty of the events, essentially you need to have another kart directly next to yours with half a kart back allowing you to cross the line and a split second later have second place finish where your Trophy will unlock.
BOOM!
Hit two opponents with a single Bowling Bomb.
This will be easiest on a tight track like Dragon Mines, go through the race ensuring you have a bowling bomb, stay behind the pack which are usually bunched up close together and fire the bowling bomb.
This might take a few attempts to get as the blast isn’t overly big, but once you have hit 2 opponents with a single bomb, your Trophy will then unlock.
Super Boost!
Do a Super Boost.
This will be easiest in the Crash Cove course. Drift boost (hold L1 to powerslide then when the green bar turns red press R1) 3 times on the sweeping left pass the crashed ship then go over one of the green boost pads to initiate a super boost where your Trophy will then unlock.
Expert Dodger
Win a boss challenge without getting hit by any of the boss’ Power-Ups.
Ripper Roo is the easiest for this one as he’s easy to get in front of and stay in front, especially when making good use of your drift boost. Ripper Roo only drops TNT crates behind him so staying in front will negate his ability to hit you.
If you do fall behind, ensure you avoid the crates and get back in first place as soon as you can.
Once you have won the event and haven’t been hit once by any of Ripper Roo’s TNT crates, your Trophy will unlock.
Master Drifter
Successfully use all three Turbo Boost charges 5 times in a row during a race.
This will be easiest on Coco Park as the course is essentially an Oval race track, go through the first lap collecting 10 Wumpa fruit then on the first corner after the start / finish line, hold L1 to initiate a drift, when the bar goes red press R1 to boost drift, do this 3 times whilst going towards the left side of the track.
Then immediately drift boost to the right staying in the middle of the track, then triple boost left again round the next corner, another 3 drift boosts to the right then finally 3 more drift boosts to the left.
You have to do all of this in a row, if you break the chain once then you’ll have to restart the chain again.
You will unlock Drifter in the process of going for Master Drifter.
Once you have successfully chained 5 turbo drift boosts together, your Trophy will unlock.
Burning Rubber!
Drift Boost a total of 500 times.
To perform a drift boost you need to go close to a corner at speed then if it’s a left hand corner hold L1 or if it’s a right hand corner, hold R1 to drift around the corner then press the alternate button when the bottom right bar goes from green to orange, you will get a short burst of speed forward once you have been successful.
You can chain drift boost together to get a large super boost, however, for this particular trophy, you only need to drift boost 500 times.
Once you have drift boosted a minimum of 500 times, your Trophy will unlock.
Yeeee HAW!
Complete the Adventure Mode on the Hard difficulty.
You will need to select Hard mode on a new profile save in game then make your way through every main level and boss course until you have beaten Nitros Oxide. You won’t need to beat him the second time in Hard mode thankfully.
Hard mode is exactly that, hard! Your opponents will be faster than you as standard and you will have to have complete mastery of the tracks as well as a very good handle on how to drift boost and utilise the shortcuts throughout the courses to be in with a chance on completing the first course, never mind the last one.
I recommend you go through and complete all other trophies leaving this one for last where you will then have the skill to get through Adventure Mode on hard, which once completed, your Trophy will unlock.
Hyper Speed
Finish first when you were last on the final lap.
Ensure you’re on a track that you are familiar with to make this easier. You will need to cross the start / finish line in last place when you start the third lap then get to first place as quickly as you can.
Ensure you collect crates and wumpa fruit as you go to give you enough speed / power-ups to get through to first place.
Once you have finished the race in first place, your Trophy will then unlock.
Rear-viewed
Block an incoming missile with all of the following Power-Ups: Beaker, Crate, Bowling Bomb.
This may come naturally through the game or may never happen depending on the weapon crates not just for you, but for your opponents as well.
Whenever you acquire a beaker (red or green), crate (TNT or Nitro) or bowling bomb you will then need to wait for a missile lock-on to your kart which will be shown as a crosshair with a square that will close in the closer the missile gets.
Wait for the missile to be very close to you then press Down+Circle to fire the weapon backwards where you will destroy the missile and not get hit.
Do this with all 3 weapons to unlock your Trophy.
The New Time-Master
Beat all of Nefarious Tropy’s times in Time Trial Mode.
See Gasmoxian Slug for more information as you need to beat all of N.Tropy’s times before you can access Nitros Oxides Time Trials.
Gasmoxian Slug
Beat all of Nitros Oxide’s times in Time Trial Mode.
Easily the hardest trophy in the game as you need to race flawlessly in order to even get close to some of these insane times throughout Crash Team Racing.
In order to access Oxide’s times, you firstly need to beat all of N. Tropy’s times which are seriously challenging in their own right.
To get things started, you need to go to Time Trial (Main Menu> Local Arcade> Time Trial) and set a time fast enough to unlock N. Tropy’s ghost whom you need to beat where Oxide’s ghost will then appear.
Regardless of the time you set whilst going against N. Tropy’s ghost, you will need to beat every instance of Oxide’s ghost in a one on one, the times don’t stack unfortunately so if you have an amazing run against N. Tropy and beat Oxide’s time, you will need to beat Oxide’s time again when facing him.
You need to perfect every track in the game, that includes the 13 Crash Nitro Kart as well as the 18 Crash Team Racing tracks.
There’s no way around it, this one will be only unlocked by the most skilled of you out there at Crash Team Racing.
Beat all 31 of Oxide’s times, to unlock your Trophy.
Natural
Win a race without using any Power-Ups.
A power up comes out of the “?” crates and are activated by pressing Circle. Try and avoid collecting any power ups all together, however, if you do collect one, just keep hold of it and win the race.
Drift boosting will give you a nice speed boost as you make your way through the race which will help you stay in front.
Choose the Coco Park course to have an easier time of it then once you take then win without having used a single power up, your Trophy will unlock.
Nitrostalgia
Finish first on all tracks. (CTR & CNK)
You need to take a win on every track in the game except the bonus tracks, which will be easily achieved in Single Race under the Local Play menu (Main Menu> Local Play> Single Race).
You need to not only complete the events under the Crash Team Racing banner but also the events which are listed under Crash Nitro Kart as well.
Simply work your way down the list completing the races under the following categories;
- N. Sanity Beach Area: 4 events
- Gem Stone Valley Area: 2 events
- Lost Ruins Area: 4 events
- Glacier Park Area: 4 events
- Citadel City Area: 4 events
- Crash Nitro Kart: 13 events
Come in first place throughout all 31 events to unlock your Trophy.
Can’t Hide From Me
Successfully land all three missiles from a Triple Missile Power-Up.
Firstly, you will need to hold 10 Wumpa fruit then it’s luck of the draw as to when you receive a missile power up, which will become 3 missiles with the 10 Wumpa fruit.
Stay at the back of the pack of racers, line up each missile carefully and fire one when you have a clear shot.
Upon successfully hitting 3 players will all 3 missiles, your Trophy will unlock.
Weapon Technician
Use every Power-Up once. (Race & Battle Arena)
You will be able to collect power-ups from the “?” crates found throughout the courses in near enough any mode in the game.
All but 2 power-ups can be collected in Adventure Mode, some of which will require you to hold 10 Wumpa fruits giving you access to the strongest version of a given power-up.
The rest of the Power Ups can be found across the various races in either Adventure mode or single race and are as follows;
- Aku-Aku / Uka-Uka.
- Bowling Bomb.
- Triple Bowling Bomb.
- Green Beaker.
- Green Shield.
- Homing Missile.
- Triple Homing Missile.
- N.Tropy Clock.
- TNT Crate.
- Turbo.
- Warp Orb.
The 2 power-ups outstanding can be acquired and used in Battle (Main Menu> Local Arcade> Battle);
- Invisibility.
- Super Turbo.
One you have used all of the power-ups, your Trophy will unlock.
Dungeon Vaulter
Use the shortcut in Cortex Castle.
Quite an obnoxious shortcut this one.
After you go outside across the stone floor you will go down 3 wooden ledges, straight after, go round to the right then when back inside, you need to have a good amount of speed then jump left onto a hard to reach ramp.
Alternatively, you can drive up the ramps where the Cortex stained glass windows are, just before you go over the boost pads under the portcullis, go left down the ramp and jump off the end back to where you were at the bottom of the ramp.
Either way, as long as you drive the length of the ramp either up or down, your Trophy will unlock.
Arctic Hurdler
Use the shortcut in Polar Pass.
The shortcut in Polar Pass can be accessed in the tunnel after going over the jumps over the water when you’re outside.
Go down around the u-shaped section on the course and go through the tunnel with the 2 Seals sliding across near the end.
You will need to hold 10 Wumpa fruits in order to make the jump as well as have a good boost going by jumping at the tip of the ramp just before the Seals then boost over the wall in front of you.
You need to clear the wall, if you touch it, you’ll have to go round and try again on your next lap then once you have successfully cleared the wall, your Trophy will unlock.
Winter Time Off-Roading
Use all of Blizzard Bluff’s shortcuts in the same race.
There are 4 shortcuts you will have to use in a single event which can be challenging to say the least. This for me was the hardest of all the shortcut trophies to unlock in the game as you need not only skill but luck as well.
The 4 shortcuts in Blizzard Bluff are as follows:
- Shortcut 1:
A nice easy, hard to miss shortcut which can be found to the left of the start / finish line behind a mushroom looking rock, go behind the rock on the snow. - Shortcut 2:
This shortcut can be a pain to use as you need to hold 10 Wumpa fruits then drift boost through the canyon with the rolling boulder, once on the ice, you need to stay left and jump across the frozen river. - Shortcut 3:
A challenging shortcut which will require an Aku-Aku / Uka-Uka mask where you need to jump over the wooden blockade to your left shortly after jumping across the frozen river. You will need a mask to ensure you are fast enough to get over the wood. - Shortcut 4:
For the fourth shortcut, you will, again need a mask then jump across the wooden blockade which is just next to the third one after jumping the frozen river.
Once you have successfully used all 4 shortcuts in one race, your Trophy will unlock.
Pyramid Parkour
Use all of Papu’s Pyramid’s shortcuts in the same race.
There are 2 shortcuts which you will need to use in the same event in Papu’s Pyramid and as always, having 10 Wumpa fruit to increase your speed will make using them a lot easier.
The first shortcut is after you go up the square left corners and have gone around the long sweeping left with the purple plants. Before going round to the right there is a small cut out section of wall to the left allowing you to jump onto a small platform and land back on the track cutting out the long corner.
This jump is a bit tricky, boost drift around the sweeping left to have a better chance of successfully making the jump.
The second shortcut is directly after you land from the first, there is a ledge to your left you can jump to allowing you to avoid power loss by falling down the large steps.
Once you have used both shortcuts in one event, your Trophy will unlock.
Puddle Hopper
Use the shortcut in Crash Cove.
The shortcut in Crash Cove is just after the first turn pass the start / finish line.
Drift boost around the corner 3 times in a row (Hold R1 to drift around the corner then when the bar in the bottom right corner changes colour press Cross), go up the wooden ramp then down into the dip in the water, if done successfully you will jump up to the ledge to your left and cut the corner to the wooden bridge.
Once you have successfully used the shortcut in Crash Cove, your Trophy will unlock.
Half-Pipe Karting
Use the shortcut in Sewer Speedway.
One of the hardest shortcut to earn in the game.
From the start of the race go through the tunnel on the right then jump up to the left of the half-pipe.
Having 10 Wumpa fruit to increase your speed will help significantly here as you need to jump off the left side of the half-pipe and jump perfectly on the edge of the right side up into a narrow tunnel where you will be able to cut out a significant portion of the track.
Once you have successfully made the jump and have gone through the tunnel, your Trophy will unlock.
Let me in!
Use the shortcut in Tiger Temple.
If you’re going for this in Adventure mode, ensure you have a weapon that goes forward such as a vial / bowling ball.
Head through the race through the first tunnel with the fire traps then look to the left wall a few seconds on to see a golden door, you need to hold Up+Circle to fire your weapon forward, hitting the golden door allowing you to go through.
Once you have made it to the end of the shortcut tunnel, your Trophy will unlock.
Minekarting
Use the shortcut in Dragon Mines without being crushed.
Go through the race pass the green dragon near the start, after next corner, there will be some mine cart tracks going from left to right, wait for a mine cart to go down the tracks and quickly follow it to the end.
You will have skipped the entire corkscrew section but ensure you stay on the left edge of the tracks to avoid being hit by the mine cart.
Once you have made it through the shortcut without being hit, your Trophy will unlock.
I know the way!
Earn all the shortcut trophies.
This is like a mini platinum for earning all of the other shortcut trophies in the game.
There are 8 shortcut trophies to unlock in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, please see their individual descriptions for how to best to tackle them and they are as follows in the order they appear in the guide;
- Dungeon Vaulter.
- Arctic Hurdler.
- Winter Time Off-Roading.
- Pyramid Parkour.
- Puddle Hopper.
- Half-Pipe Karting.
- Let Me In!.
- Minekarting.
Once you have unlocked all 8 shortcut trophies, you will then unlock this Trophy as well.
Juiced Up!
Use all Juiced Up Power-Ups once. (Race & Battle Arena)
As you make your way around the various stages you will be able to collect wumpa fruit, either from the striped crates or randomly littered throughout the track.
Once you have 10 wumpa fruit (top of the screen), any weapon crates you collect will now contain enhanced versions of them.
2 of these can only be accessed in battle mode and are the;
- Invisibility
- Super Turbo
The rest of the Power Ups can be found across the various races in either Adventure mode or single race and are as follows;
- Aku-Aku / Uka-Uka lasts twice as long
- Bowling Bomb becomes Triple Bowling Bomb
- Green Beaker becomes a Red Storm Beaker
- Green Shield becomes Blue Shield
- Homing Missile becomes Triple Homing Missile
- N.Tropy Clock lasts twice as long
- TNT Crate becomes Nitro Crate
- Turbo will last twice as long
- Warp Orb will hit every opponent on its way to first place
You won’t need to hit your opponents with any of the power ups simply using them will be enough.
Once you have used them all, your Trophy will unlock.
Unstoppable
Sustain your boost for a whole lap.
One of the harder trophies to unlock as maintaining boost for an entire lap will take a fair bit of practice.
For me, I found this easiest on the Coco Park course as there are a lot of long open corners allowing you to drift boost (hold L1 for a left turn or R1 for a right turn then press the alternate button when the bar in the bottom right turns orange).
On the straights you will need to carefully drift boost making use of the wide track, combine that with hitting every green pad and you’ll get there eventually with practice.
Once you have sustained your boost for an entire lap, your Trophy will unlock.
The Dominator!
Win a match in every type of Battle Mode.
This can be achieved in local arcade from the main menu where you need to get a win in the following modes;
- Capture the Flag
- Crystal Grab
- Last Kart Driving
- Limit Battle
- Steal the Bacon
Ensure the AI is set to very easy and choose 1 opponent to all but assure the win throughout.
Take the win in all 4 events to unlock your Trophy.
Get off me!
Free yourself from a TNT crate.
In order to free yourself from a TNT Crate, you first need to run into one during any event where you have weapons as well as other opponents where the crate will land on your head.
Quickly press R1 multiple times to jump up and down, once you’ve jumped 5 times the crate will fall off your head and your Trophy will unlock.
Alchemist
Directly hit an opponent with a thrown Beaker Power-Up.
A Beaker will either be a green or red vial, in order to get this trophy, you need to throw the vial forward by pressing Up+Circle when you have an opponent 2 carts lengths in front of you.
Practice throwing vials out in front of you so you can gauge the distance then line up and take the shot.
This might take a few attempts, but you’ll get there with practice.
Once you have successfully hit an opponent with a thrown beaker, your Trophy will unlock.
That’s How I Roll
Customize your ride.
From the main menu, choose Local Arcade then go through to where you can select your character / karts.
Choose Karts and change or of the options or select Randomise to unlock your Trophy.
Is everyone here?
Unlock all characters from the original roster.
You will need to make 14 characters available in order to unlock this trophy, 8 of which are available from the start of the game.
In addition to the 8 starting characters, you can unlock 4 of the bosses, Ripper Roo, Papu Papu, Komodo Joe and Pinstripe by beating them in Adventure Mode.
You will be able to unlock Fake Crash by collecting the Purple Gem in Adventure Mode then it’s just a matter of beating all of N. Tropy’s time trial ghost times where N.Tropy will become a playable character.
Once you hold have the 14 characters available to play as, your Trophy will unlock.
Oh, Shiny!
Complete all Crystal Challenges. (CTR & CNK)
In total, there are 12 Crystal Challenges you need to complete, 7 in Crash Team Racing and 5 in Crash Nitro Kart. These can all be accessed from the main menu, Local Arcade, Crystal Challenges section.
In order to complete a Crystal Challenge you will need to collect 20 pink crystals scattered throughout the area, some of which will require some creativity to collect like drift boosting up a ledge giving you enough speed to jump and collect them.
You have a fairly strict time limit to collect the 20 crystals.
Once you have successfully collected all 20 crystals throughout the 12 Crystal Challenges, your Trophy will unlock.
