This should be the penultimate side quest for you to complete in Dead Island 2 and requires you, for good reason, to have completed the main game. Also, ensure your gear is fully repaired and matched to your level as the Going Viral side quest is seriously challenging.
You won’t be able to access the Going Viral side quest until you have completed at least #Clickbait and the Like and Follow side quests in Bel-Air and The Pier respectively so you will already be aware how challenging Amanda’s side quests are. The Going Viral side quest, however, is next level in terms of difficulty.
Quest giver: Collect Amanda’s Phone in either Lifeguard HQ in The Pier or on the counter of the shop in the safe zone in Hollywood Boulevard.
Rewards: 5,500 XP, Zom-B-Gon.
Once you have your best gear equipped, get ready for the toughest challenge in the entire game by a long way ensuring you have enough ammunition, a variety of firearms and a full compliment of med-kits to hand.
The main problem is the sheer amount of apex zombies you will be facing and for whatever reason the developer’s decided to pit you in a handicapped 2 on 1 against the toughest versions several times over as well as hordes of Runners, Walkers, Shamblers and anything else they could find lurking around.
Head over the Bleechers behind the red carpet and speak with Amanda who is, as usual, up high then interact with the Camera controls to start your descent in to Hell.
The first pair of apex zombies for you to face are a pair of Crushers, Tyson Witt and Rebecca Witt-Carter both of whom are incredibly powerful and a pain to deal with if you take your time so get in there with melee and curveballs as you will need to save your ammo for later or shoot one and melee the other if you’re really struggling.
Next up you will have a pair of Screamers to deal with, both of which need taking down as fast as you can to ensure they don’t call too many zombies to your position so use a few rounds if need be then hack away until they fall.
With both Bijou Dupont and Claritee taken down, reload, collect any loot protein bars, energy drinks etc. then get ready for a spike in difficulty.
You will now have to deal with an Inferno Crusher, Amar Anand and a Firestorm Slobber, $ir Treble and given the heavy amount of fire damage these 2 can output, it’s imperative you stay out of their way and avoid the ground and pounds as getting knocked down in fire can easily end your day early.
After you’ve extinguished both the Amar and $ir Treble, follow the marker back towards the safe zone where you will be ambushed by Runners as well as a nasty Vicious Butcher, Eddie Ortiz who is tougher than he looks.
Shuffling up behind will also be a tough as nails Putrefied Slobber, Bill Hoffman who’s proximity slob balls can easily chunk bars off your health. Take them both down then get ready for a fight of epic proportions.
With everything you have faced being as tough as it has been, you now have an ultimate challenge to get through, you need to take down a Mutator, Nicolas De Leon and a Voltaic Screamer, Grace Chu, both of whom would be hard enough solo but together, they’re a nightmare.
The Mutator can inflict seriously heavy bleed damage and knock you down with that arm of his whilst the Voltaic Screamer can electrify you in seconds as well as summon a good number of Runners and Walkers to your position.
Now is the time to use your firepower assuming you have some left. Unload everything you have in to the Mutator first as it has a greater range then take down the Voltaic Screamer whilst dealing with the mobs.
I say do it it in this order as Grace’s attacks can be interrupted with curveballs and heavy hits whereas the only thing that will stop the Mutator is death so deal with them both how you see fit but that’s how I did it.
With both Grace and Nicolas down, you will then hear Amanda tell you over comms that she’s been bitten and is now a Runner you will need to put down so treat her like every other zombie in the game and deal with her before she kills you.
Once Amanda has been laid to rest, collect the Sorry Note she dropped then head back to the laptop you used to activate the cameras at the back of the Bleechers.
Interact with the the laptop where you can hear a touching tribute to Amanda as well as receive one of the best bleed weapons in the game concluding not only the Going Viral side quest but Amanda’s questline as well.
