In order to find Davis you will need to go through Venice Beach and The Pier, 2 fairly challenging areas so ensure you are going in with fully repaired gear, a firearm ensuring your hardest hitting weapons are matched to your level to increase your efficiency.
For me, I did the lost and found quests after having completed the main story, as such, some lost and found quests might not show on your first visit to the Serling Hotel so check back regularly in game where the Missing Person notices will become available on the notice board in the Serling Hotel safe zone.
Quest giver: Collect the Missing: Davis not from the Missing Persons notice board in the Serling Hotel.
Rewards: 1,500 XP, Improvised Hammer.
Collect the Missing: Davis poster from the Missing Persons board in the Serling Hotel safe zone on Ocean Avenue then head over to Venice Beach Blue Crab fast travel point.
Leave the Blue Crab going right, jump the gate and head left along the street to the coach on its side. Clear the zombies then crouch through the coach where you will need to find 2 notes. The first note is at the back of the area in the open doorway of a coach and is the Extra Credit note to the right of the 2nd coach you go through.
Continue through the coaches taking a left to find the L.A. Evac Driver Handbook in the coach doorway to your left then head over to The Pier after you clear the ambush waiting for you once you’re back out of the coach areas.
In The Pier, head out through the North East door and across North to the Hot Dog Shack then follow the fence West to the corner where you can go through the upturned section of fence.
Proceed through the area taking care of the Screamers and zombies along the way to the porta-potties where Davis, who has turned into a very powerful Crusher you need to take down.
With Davis down, clear any remaining zombies in the local area then collect the Unappreciated Genius phone he drops to conclude the Missing: Davis lost and found quest.
