Before we get into the meat of the guide, please not e that if you use any cheat codes of which there are many for San Andreas you will no longer be able to unlock trophies or achievements for your entire save file. If you do want to play with cheats I recommend doing so on a separate profile but you do you.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas (the Definitive Edition) is a massive game and if you are looking to unlock I Ain’t No Buster you will have a lot to do including finding 250 collectibles, completing every story mission in the game, taking over every piece of gang turf, maxing all weapon skills, exporting 3 car lists worth of cars and dating every available girl where you will still have around another 30 hours to go after that point.

You can continue to play through the game once the main story is completed where you can mop up anything you may have missed along the way. We will start off with the main story where you will be able to unlock the following as you progress through to the credits:

With the main campaign done you can, at any time work through any of the other trophies. The majority of them will be available to work towards as you progress through the game but having the main story done you will be well on your way to completing the majority of the other trophies giving you less of a grind but there are full details below.

If we focus next on the vehicle element of the game you will be able to work towards unlocking:

With that all done there are several gambling trophies in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas which are:

Then it’s a case of mopping up the rest of the trophies before we get into the final stage where you will have a handful of trophies left. If you haven’t done so already ensure you unlock the following:

Now you should only have 4 trophies left to unlock, most of which you will have been working towards anyway providing you have followed with the guides listed above so now it’s time to put the nail in the coffin and unlock the following:

With all that done you will then unlock the coveted Platinum:

Complete the mission to unlock The End of the Line.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Hoopin' it Up trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

15 G

Hoopin’ it Up
Score at least 30 points in the basketball mini-game.

There are several Basketball courts found throughout San Andreas with the earliest one being accessible in South East Los Santos, here:

Playing Basketball can be a bit finicky as you need to hold Cross then release it at the height of the jump to score a basket which some times just won’t land a basket regardless of how good your timing is.

Press Triangle to begin playing Basketball then press Traingle to enter Challenge Mode where you will have a certain amount of time to rack up 30 points by landing hoops. Each successful basket made will give you more time so as long as you don’t miss more than around 5 shots you will be able to easily score 30 or more in Basketball.

It might take a few attempts to get the timing down but once you have scored at least 30 points in Challenge mode you will then unlock Hoopin’ it Up.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas A Legitimate Business trophy
PlayStation Silver Trophy

40 G

A Legitimate Business
Export all three car lists.

Before you can start exporting Car Lists you will firstly need to have access to San Fierro where you can then, once you have the money spare, purchase Wang Cars for $50,000 then complete the quests which become available until you gain access to the first Export List.

Refer to the A Legitimate Business trophy guide for where to find each of the required vehicles across the 3 export lists which will unlock A Legitimate Business once every car has been successfully delivered.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas I’ll Have Two Number 9s trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

25 G

I’ll Have Two Number 9s
Reach maximum weight.

You can gain weight in game by eating large meals at either Cluckin’ Bell, Burger Shot or the Well Stacked Pizza Company. Just don’t eat so much that CJ vomits as he won’t then put on any weight.

If you go to an eatery and eat 5 or 7 meals several times over you will soon gain a high amount of weight then, once you reach maximum weight you will then unlock I’ll Have Two Number 9s.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas The American Dream trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

15 G

The American Dream
Purchase any house.

Houses become available for purchase fairly early in the game, however, you won’t have the cash for one until you’re around halfway through.
You will naturally unlock The American Dream as you work towards Ain’t Nothing But a G Thing.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Pay 'n' Spray trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

15 G

Pay ‘n’ Spray
Use a Pay ‘n’ Spray with wanted level.

You will unlock Pay ‘n’ Spray as part of the Drive-by story mission for helping Sweet and Ryder take out some Ballas.

Once you have taken down all 4 sets of Ballas you will have a 2 star wanted level with the mission marker then changing to the Pay ‘n’ Spray which you can use for free to lose your wanted level.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Bike or Biker trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

20 G

Bike or Biker
Complete BMX or NRG challenge.

This is a contender for one of the toughest to unlock in the game as you need to perform a good amount of jumps under a fairly strict time on either a BMX or an NRG superbike (fastest land vehicle in the game).

You will need high skills in either Cycling or Bike with an easy way of doing this is to complete the Bike School in South West Las Venturas which will teach you the skills you need. If you need any more skill then race around on a Motorbike whilst avoiding crashing, getting near misses, driving at high speed, performing wheelies etc.

The NRG challenge is by far the easier of the 2 to complete as the slightest knock can send CJ off a BMX whereas he seems to have better stability on a motorbike and can be found in East San Fierro here:

Get to the marker to initiate the NRG challenge and work through the rings one by one focusing on the ones you need to jump for before going for the easier ground level ones. It will more than likely take a few attempts before you will successfully complete the NRG challenge but once you do you will unlock Bike or Biker.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Who Needs Directions trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

40 G

Who Needs Directions?
Find Mike Toreno without any of the referenced locations during “Mike Toreno”.

You will be able to track and find Mike Toreno during the Mike Toreno story mission so play through the game until it becomes available then, at the start of the mission, ignore all of the prompts leading you to where Mike isn’t, instead, head straight to the airport here:

Once there, drive through to the airport grounds following the marker where you will unlock Who Needs Directions?.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Liberty City State of Mind trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

25 G

Liberty City State of Mind
Complete the “Saint Mark’s Bistro” mission.

Play through the game until you get to Las Venturas then work through missions until you can speak to Salvatore Leone who who is in Caligula’s Palace then get over to the airport following the mission markers then fly off the map to Liberty City.

Once you’re in the Bistro make your way down through the Bistro taking out everyone along the way so ensure you have brought some heavy hitting weaponry such as an M4 and or a Shotgun.

With everyone dead you will be placed back in a plane which is coming in to land back at Las Venturas where, with wheels on the ground  you will complete the mission unlocking Liberty City State of Mind.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Swiss Army Strife trophy
PlayStation Gold Trophy

50 G

Swiss Army Strife
Max all weapon skills.

Maxing the weapon skills requires you to use a particular weapon for a good amount of time. There is an easy way to get this done though but first off you will need to be a good way through the main story before all of the weapons become available for use.

The 11 weapons you need to use for this one are:

  1. Pistol.
  2. Silenced Pistol.
  3. Desert Eagle.
  4. Shotgun.
  5. Sawn-Off Shotgun.
  6. Combat Shotgun.
  7. Micro-SMG.
  8. Tec-9 SMG.
  9. MP5 SMG
  10. AK47 Machine Gun.
  11. M4 Machine Gun.

You can purchase all of the weapons once you’re in Las Venturas and have completed the You’ve Had Your Chips story mission then you simply need to head to Palamino Creek to the safe house you acquire in the story, place a car in the garage, shoot at it with any of the weapons listed above until it catches fire then walk away allowing the door to close.

Repeat this process for each weapon type ensuring you restock your ammo at the nearby Ammu-Nation should you need to then keep plugging away. Allowing the door to close on the garage will reset all damage to the vehicle providing it hasn’t exploded. If it does explode then come back after a day and it should be removed.

Hitman is the highest weapon skill a weapon can achieve so continue using a weapon until you reach Hitman then move to the next one rinsing and repeating which will be a lot easier at the end of the game as you will naturally gain a good amount of weapon skill along the way.

Once you have achieved the Hitman rank for all 11 weapons listed above you will then unlock Swiss Army Strife.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas School's Out trophy
PlayStation Silver Trophy

PlayStation Bronze Trophy

5 G

Horror of the Santa Maria

Head to any beach then go out to sea far enough where you can dive underwater then stay there until your oxygen bar depletes followed by your health bar where you will then drown unlocking Horror of the Santa Maria.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas They Can’t Stop All of Us trophy
PlayStation Gold Trophy

40 G

They Can’t Stop All of Us
Sneak into the underground base without setting off the alarm above ground during “Black Project”.

Before attempting this mission you will need a Sniper Rifle, a Silenced Pistol and an M4 at least. Bring more weaponry with you if you can as well as Armour to increase your chances of survival.

Continue through the game until you can play through the Black Project story mission which is found at the airstrip in Northern Las Venturas, go through the cutscene then before breaching the perimeter, equip your Sniper Rifle then systematically work through the guards one by one. Ensure you aim for the chest as it will still give you a 1 hit kill and it’s a much larger target than the head which is easily missable.

Use the scope on the Rifle to help spot your targets. It doesn’t matter if they start running towards your position just as long as the alarm doesn’t sound so put them down quickly and quietly if you are spotted.

Go up to the Watchtower closest to the point where you breached the fence then starting up high, work your way down through the enemies. We have a good visual of exactly what you need to do in the video below.

You are free to shoot 2 of the Spotlights out, however, shoot 3 and the alarm will sound so be cautious then take out the Soldier in-between the tents before sneaking through into the base.

You won’t know if you have been successful until the end of the mission so ensure you have a backup save. Once in the base, you are free to go loud dropping the Soldiers as you make your way to the keycard then down into the depths to find the Jetpack.

Boost out and head to the marker to conclude the mission, where, as long as you haven’t caused the alarm to sound you will unlock They Can’t Stop All of Us.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Smooth Moves trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

10 G

Smooth Moves
Perform a perfect dance routine.

Go to the Alhambra nightclub in Los Santos then interactive with the dance machine where you need to successfully press the buttons on your controller as they get to the marked section on screen.

Your rating can be either Bad, Good or Perfect. You need a Perfect score which doesn’t require you to be perfect you just need to get your score high enough to get into the Perfect bracket.

If you don’t manage it the first time, try again until you do manage a Perfect dance routine which will unlock Smooth Moves.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas What the City Needs trophy
PlayStation Silver Trophy

40 G

What the City Needs
Complete 12 levels of Vigilante.

Before you can become a Vigilante you will firstly need a Law Enforcement vehicle and unlike Savior and Rescue a Kitten Too? you have plenty of options in game ranging from standard Police Cruisers right the way up to Attack Helicopters and even a tank both of which trivialise being a Vigilante.

I recommend doing this in the Rhino, 1 of which you can steal from Area 69 in Las Venturas. You will get a 5 Star Wanted level but considering the tank is indestructible you will be able to complete all 12 levels which are accessed by pressing R3 whilst in a law enforcement vehicle whilst the Police and their cars bounce off.

Alternatively, complete every level in the Flight School with Gold Medals throughout to acquire the Hunter attack helicopter which has lock on and the ability to get to criminals quicker than any other vehicle.

Whichever way you choose to be a Vigilante you will need to complete all 12 levels in one sitting in the same vehicle. Some criminals in the later levels can be in fast cars which can make it more of a challenge but fire a shell from the Rhino or Rockers from the Hunter and it won’t matter how fast or agile they are.

Complete all 12 levels of Vigilante in one sitting to unlock What the City Needs as well as getting a boost to your maximum armour capacity.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Saviour trophy
PlayStation Silver Trophy

45 G

Saviour
Complete 12 levels of Paramedic.

Before you can become a Paramedic you will firstly need an Ambulance so go and hit someone or go to the hospital where you should be able to spawn an Ambulance.

Once in an Ambulance, press R3 to activate Paramedic which will task you with driving around collecting patients who have a short window of life before they die for you to take them to the hospital and drop them off.

The early levels aren’t that bad but the final 3 levels can be a challenge as you need to drive fast but cautiously to avoid running over the patients before you collect them whilst ensuring you don’t cause damage to the Ambulance as you will need to complete all 12 levels of Paramedic in a single sitting.

If you run over or don’t get to the hospital in time you will fail the mission, so as long as your Ambulance isn’t overly damaged, leave it then get back in and start again from level 1.

Once you have completed all 12 levels of Paramedic in 1 sitting you will unlock Saviour as well as getting a welcome boost to your Maximum Health.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Rescue a Kitten Too trophy
PlayStation Silver Trophy

40 G

Rescue a Kitten Too?
Complete 12 levels of Firefighter.

Before you can become a Firefighter you will firstly need a Fire Engine so start some fires either by blowing up a car or throwing Molotovs on the ground. Try not to cause too much carnage as you don’t want a wanted level as this will make the Firefighter levels harder to complete.

Either way, get in a Fire Engine which you need to drive carefully to each of the mission markers which show up after you press R3 to begin the Firefighter mode as all 12 levels need to be completed in one sitting in the same Fire Engine.

The Firefighter levels will become progressively more difficult giving you multiple cars and passengers to extinguish with the Engine’s hose with ever decreasing time limits.

If you do fail a level, leave the Fire Engine then get back in and retry from level 1 as long as the Fire Engine isn’t overly beaten up then, once you have completed all 12 levels of Firefighter you will unlock Rescue a Kitten Too? as well as becoming Fireproof.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Yes I Speak English trophy
PlayStation Silver Trophy

45 G

Yes I Speak English
Reach 50 fares in Taxi Mode.

Taxi’s can be found through San Andreas so steal one then hold Up to begin Taxi Missions which see you needing to pick up client(s) then drop them off at a specific location on the map.

You will get a waypoint for where you need to go, just be wary of not inflicting to much damage on the Taxi you’re driving as well as ensuring you keep an eye on the timer.

The 50 fares are cumulative so they don’t need to be done in one Taxi, once you have successfully dropped off your 50th fare you will unlock Yes I Speak English.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Lucky Spinner trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

10 G

Lucky Spinner
Win at least $1,000 in a single spin of the Wheel of Fortune.

Go to the Four Dragons Casino in Las Venturas and go to the top left corner to find the Wheel of Fortune. Place a bet of $1,000 on any of the 5 denominations then roll the wheel.

It is RNG as to whether or not the wheel will land on your chosen denomination so keep trying until you take then win which will unlock Lucky Spinner.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas What happens in Las Venturas... trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

25 G

What happens in Las Venturas…
Complete “Yay Ka-Boom-Boom”.

The Yay Ka-Boom-Boom story mission is the final story mission in San Fierro and can be a tough one so get yourself geared with Shotgun, M4 and an SMG then drive the wired car to the marker carefully as it is a bomb so 1 to many crashes will see you explode prematurely.

Kill the guards at the gate which causes the alarm to go off as well as the gate to open then park the rigged car in the marker. Activate the bomb then shoot your way through the guards using the car to jump the containers.

Race back to the marker to conclude the mission unlocking What happens in Las Venturas….

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas All Dressed Up for San Fierro trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

25 G

All Dressed Up for San Fierro
Complete “The Green Sabre”.

The Green Sabre is a mandatory story mission for Cesar in Los Santos and once completed will give you access to San Fiero.

You will have a heavy number of Ballas to deal with so don’t start the mission until you’re heavily armed which, once completed will unlock All Dressed Up for San Fierro.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas What are the Odds trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

10 G

What are the Odds
Win a race in Inside Track Betting.

Inside Track is a betting shop you can find at the Mullholland Intersection here:

Go inside and interact with the ITB machine to the left of the shop then look for a horse with low odds such as 2/1, 3/1 etc. which will mean the horse is a favourite to win.

You can place any amount of down on the race between $5 and $10,000 so this can be a good way of making money early in the game. Reload if you lose, however, if you win you will earn the odds payout as well as unlock What are the Odds.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Double or Nothin' trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

25 G

Double or Nothin’
Put all your money or the maximum bet on red or black and win.

You can do this at the Blackjack table in the Four Dragons Casino which is in the South of Las Venturas. Walk to a Blackjack table then place the maximum bet which is $10,000.

The outcome is completely random so if you lose either reload or if you have the cash spare try again placing your bet on either red or black where, with a 50/50 chance you will win eventually where you will then unlock Double or Nothin’.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Assassin trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

25 G

Assassin
Stealth kill all enemies in the mission “Madd Dogg’s Rhymes”.

This can be a tricky mission to work through as stealth isn’t the usual playstyle for GTA San Andreas so you will be out of your comfort zone here. Make a manual save before going to Burger Shot and beginning the Madd Dogg’s Rhymes story mission for OG Loc.

Once you’re all set, go to Madd Dogg’s house where you will get a short tutorial on Stealth kills then go forward and kill the guard in the doorway by moving slowly whilst crouched before plunging your knife into his neck.

Now you will have to work through the house taking down the guards with no one spotting you so follow the guard anti-clockwise around the pool being careful not to bump into him then melee kill him.

The next guard will be walking directly towards you so go into the room on the left and stay put whilst keeping an eye on the mini-map for the direction the guard is facing. Wait for him to walk pass your hiding spot then sneak up behind him then put him down.

In the next area there will be a barman as well as a guard playing video games (the original Driver). Sneak pass both of them then go into the records room on the left allowing you to exit through the door on your right where you will find the fourth guard. Kill him quietly.

Collect Madd Dogg’s Rhyme book from the studio then go back into the records room and wait in the bottom left corner as you enter and stay still as the fifth guard will walk pass you before standing in the doorway.

Sneak up behind him and kill him quietly collecting the Silenced Pistol he drops then make your way back towards the bar. Manually aim at the guards head who is standing in the doorway with the Silenced Pistol and put him down.

Take aim at the video game playing guard ensuring you get a headshot before going forward and dropping the Barman with a well placed headshot.

Continue back through the house to the corridor adjacent to the bar, angle the camera along the corridor and wait for the guard who you need to quickly headshot when he turns around.

Drop the final guard with a final headshot who is patrolling the pool then leave the mansion, where, as long as you have silently killed every guard, you will unlock Assassin.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Original Gangster trophy
PlayStation Silver Trophy

35 G

Original Gangster
Reach maximum respect.

You will earn respect by completing missions, taking over gang territories and most of the other elements of the game you will be doing as you work towards unlocking both Ain’t Nothing But a G Thing and Remastered.

You can check your Respect level in your Stats which, once maxed out will unlock Original Gangster.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Today Was a Good Day trophy
PlayStation Gold Trophy

45 G

Today Was a Good Day
Go 24 hours (in game) without breaking the law, being wanted, killing or harming anyone.

24 hours in game is around 50 minutes in the real World so an easy way to get this done is to go to the Beach and walk around for a bit every few minutes ensuring your controller doesn’t disconnect.

Once 24 hours has passed in game without you doing anything illegal you will unlock Today Was a Good Day.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Public Enemy No. 1 trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

25 G

Public Enemy No. 1
Reach 6 wanted stars.

6 Wanted Stars will be achievable towards the end of the game in Las Venturas. Keep shooting Police and destroying Police vehicles whilst staying alive which will be much easier if you can find a good vantage point like a balcony on a house to the East of Los Santos overlooking the freeway below.

Alternatively, get in the Rhino tank and blast away at anything that stands in your way focusing fire on Army and Law Enforcement.

Ensure you stay alive whilst causing mayhem until you reach 6 stars which will unlock Public Enemy No. 1.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Chick Magnet trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

25 G

Chick Magnet
Achieve maximum sex appeal.

Sex Appeal is a stat in game which is made up of a few different elements including how muscly CJ is, the clothes he’s wearing, the haircut and even how many tattoos CJ has on him.

The largest factor though is the car you have as having a high end car greatly increases your Sex Appeal providing it’s not damaged. Fortunately we have a good workaround for increasing Sex Appeal which will cost you a few grand but it’s worth it to get this one done and out of the way.

Go to the Tattoo shop in Williowfield, Los Santos:

You can then purchase the Upper Left Arm Tattoo: Grave for $45. This will add 1%  to your sex appeal (check your Sex Appeal in Stats). You can choose to remove the tattoo for $400.

I recommend doing this until you reach 50% Sex Appeal which sounds excessive especially as if you start at 0% Sex Appeal it will cost $22,250 which of course will be lowered the higher your Sex Appeal stat is when you start.

Once you hit 50% Sex Appeal leave the Tattoo Shop then head over to El Corona to this location:

Once here look to the left of the street to find a Blade vehicle next to a house which you can enter to boost your Sex Appeal up to 100% unlocking Chick Magnet.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Ain’t Nothing But a G Thing trophy
PlayStation Gold Trophy

50 G

Ain’t Nothing But a G Thing
Own all gang warfare turfs, properties and have $1,000,000.

Gang Warfare is an element of San Andreas which becomes available after you have completed the Doberman story mission, however, it will go away again once you have completed the, The Green Sabre story mission and won’t come back again until you have completed the Home Coming story mission.

Once Doberman is completed you will be able to see different coloured sections on your map throughout Los Santos, these are Gang territories which you can take over by going to a coloured area on the map either Purple for Balla or Yellow for Vagos then killing a few gang members to initiate a gang battle.

You will find Armor and Health in the local area which will help you stay alive as you take down the gang members which will make the coloured area on the map flash red, then, once every gang member is defeated the colour of the map will turn green indicating you now own that part of the map.

On occasion you will need to go to a gang battle where the old gang will try and take their turf back. Sometimes your gang can handle them but to save you the hassle of having to retake the turf, get over there and eliminate the invading gang. If you can’t get there due to being on a mission or you just don’t feel like and you do lose the turf, go and retake it later.

Work the Vagos (yellow) over first as they have a smaller territory and they shouldn’t reinvade once you have all of their territory, then focus on the Balla (purple) territory working through their turf systematically.

As for the properties, they will cost you a heavy amount of money. You can refer to the Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Purchasable Properties to see the locations and the cost of every purchasable property in San Andreas.

With regards to the million dollars, keep playing through the game then go to the Casino or a betting shop just after saving, place a maximum bet, reload if you lose or save if you win where you will eventually make a million dollars.

Once you have taken control of every section of gang turf, own all properties and have a million dollars in cash at the top right of your screen you will then unlock Ain’t Nothing But a G Thing.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Remastered trophy
PlayStation Gold Trophy

100 G

Remastered
Earn 100% completion.

In order to earn 100% completion you will have to do a lot, not all of what the game has to offer. Given how much you need to do I have broken Remastered down into it’s own guide with a lot of guides coming out from that guide if that makes sense covering everything you need to do.

Refer to the Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Remastered trophy guide for everything you need to do in order to achieve 100% completion.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas ...Here we go again trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

25 G
