Grand Theft Auto V Close Shave Trophy Guide

Grand Theft Auto V Close Shave trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Close Shave
Complete all Under the Bridge and Knife Flight challenges.

Here’s the Grand Theft Auto V Close Shave Trophy Guide.

You need to go under 50 bridges throughout Los Santos in an aerial vehicle as well as performing what’s known as a knife edge flight in 15 tight locations.

For the Under the Bridges, these will be a lot easier in a helicopter.

There are several helicopters around Los Santos, the easiest of which can be found at the Sandy Shores Helipad as Trevor after having completed the, Three’s Company mission where you have permanent access to a Frogger which is fine for getting under the majority of the bridges.

For 2 of the bridges, however, the Frogger is slightly to large to fit so you can steal a Buzzard Attack Helicopter from the N.O.O.S.E. H.Q. East of Los Santos (See the image below).

Once in the H.Q., get up on the roof where there will hopefully be a Buzzard there, if there isn’t, either die or sleep then go back and try again.

You can, alternatively if you’re at the end game simply purchase a Buzzard (Phone> Internet> Travel And Transport> www . warstock – cache – and – carry . com> Buzzard Attack Chopper for $2,000,000).

The 2 bridges you will need the Buzzard for are Bridge 23 and Bridge 24.

Knife Flights

The knife flights are by far the hardest part of this trophy as you need to keep the wing tip of a plane parallel to the ground at high speed whilst staying very close to a particular building.

Trevor is the best pilot in the game so I recommend using him.

To get a plane, you can steal a Hydra from Fort Zancudo but this will require you to break in to the military base which gets the Army after you as well as needing to safely get the plane out of the base without taking any damage which can be tricky.

Alternatively, you can either purchase a hangar at Los Santos International Airport for $1,378,600 as Franklin (you can upgrade Franklins flying skill at the Flight School at Los Santos International Airport) then purchase a plane (Phone> Internet> Travel and Transport> Elitas Travel> The Shamal is a good, solid choice and costs $1,150,000).

Or do what I did and steal a Velum plane from the airport which spawns randomly at the hangars on the far side of the airport grounds from the entrance barrier you drive through.

We’ll start with the 50 Under the Bridges then we’ll cover all 15 Knife Flights.

Under The Bridge

Bridge 1

Cypress Flats: Frogger.
Fly under the large bridge closest to the South East portion of the Pacific Ocean.

Bridge 2

Cypress Flats: Frogger.
Head under the bridge carefully taking care not to touch the water.

Bridge 3

Cypress Flats: Frogger.
Another tight gap in between the bridge and the water. This will be best tackled when the wind isn’t to high as one wave can put you in the water.

Bridge 4

Cypress Flats: Frogger.
This bridge can be a tricky one as it’s a long bridge which is close to the water so line yourself up then push forward gently taking care not to touch the bridge or the water.

Bridge 5

Banning: Frogger.
This is one of the toughest bridges as the Frogger will just fit in between the bridge and the water, take it slow and be very gentle on the controls.

Bridge 6

Banning: Frogger.
Another incredibly challenging bridge to get under as one rogue wave can hit the landing legs on the helicopter and pull you into the water, line yourself up then use your forward momentum to get through the bridge unscathed.

This one might take a few goes.

Bridge 7

Los Santos International Airport: Frogger.
A very easy bridge to go under given the size of it. you could probably do this one in a jumbo jet as long as you avoid the cranes.

Bridge 8

Davis: Frogger.
Line yourself up to the middle of the storm drain which will give you enough space to get under the bridge.

Bridge 9

Maze Bank Arena: Frogger.
A nice easy bridge to get under.

Bridge 10

La Puerta: Frogger.
Make your way under the bridge taking care not to hit the storm drain below.

Bridge 11

La Puerta: Frogger.
Head under the freeway bridge above the storm drain.

Bridge 12

La Puerta: Frogger.
This can be tight so go through slowly taking care not to touch the bridge above or the storm drain below.

Bridge 13

La Puerta: Frogger.
Another tight bridge above the storm drain, take care not to hit the raised wall to the left if coming through from the South.

Bridge 14

La Puerta: Frogger.
Come at this one from the West side then carefully use the momentum of the chopper to get under the bridge successfully.

Bridge 15

Cypress Flats: Frogger.
A nice easy bridge to get under with plenty of room.

Bridge 16

Le Mesa: Frogger.
Head through the middle section under the bridge above the storm drain water.

Bridge 17

Le Mesa: Frogger.
Take it slow ensuring you don’t touch either the bridge above or the storm drain below.

Bridge 18

Le Mesa: Frogger.
Pick any side (I chose the right when coming from the South) then go through. You have enough room to do this at full speed if you choose to.

Bridge 19

Le Mesa: Frogger.
Another very easy bridge to go under.

Bridge 20

Le Mesa: Frogger.
This is another bridge with enough room to take at any speed you wish.

Bridge 21

East Vinewood: Frogger.
Head through the left, middle or right sections under the Freeway ensuring you don’t touch the storm drain below.

Bridge 22

East Vinewood: Frogger.
A very easy bridge to navigate under.

Bridge 23

Mirror Park: Buzzard.
Use the Buzzard for this one as the Frogger is slightly to wide. Line yourself up in the middle section of the 5 struts then carefully go through using forward, accelerate if you get to close to the floor but ensure you keep the stick dead straight so you don’t hit the walls.

Bridge 24

East Vinewood: Buzzard.
Another very tight gap to get through so use the Buzzard as the Frogger won’t make it.

Line yourself up then use gentle forward momentum with very gentle acceleration if you lose to much height.

Bridge 25

Mirror Park: Frogger.
Take care when going under this bridge as there can be a lot of trucks which make things a lot more difficult, if coming from the North, the bridge does open up on the Northbound side of the freeway so use that to your advantage.

Bridge 26

Murrieta Heights: Frogger.
A nice easy bridge to get under providing there aren’t any trucks in the way.

Bridge 27

Murrieta Heights: Frogger.
Check for any large vehicles that could get in the way then navigate your way under all 8 lanes of the freeway without touching any of the lamposts that will negate your attempt if touched.

Bridge 28

Palomino Highlands: Frogger.
Carefully make your way under the train bridge whilst not hitting any vehicles. This can be tight so check the traffic before attempting the under the bridge.

Bridge 29

Tatavium Mountains: Frogger.
Head under the small railway bridge taking care not to hit the lamposts along the way.

Bridge 30

Pacific Ocean: Frogger.
This can be a tough one in bad weather so if it’s stormy go and sleep until it’s clear then come back.

You need to squeeze through the gap in the rocks just above the water but low enough to avoid the rocks above you.

Save before attempting this one as it’s very easy to put the chopper in the drink.

Bridge 31

Tataviam Mountains: Frogger.
Navigate your way below the freeway taking care not to hit the offramp, lamposts, ground or bridge along the way. Keep it slow and steady to get through safely.

Bridge 32

Tataviam Mountains: Frogger.
A tricky one if there’s traffic, although it should be fairly manageable by now. Take it slow to get through.

Bridge 33

Grand Senora Desert: Frogger.
Make your way under the bridge taking care of the elevated terrain to your left if coming through from the South side.

Bridge 34

Ron Alternates Wind Farm: Frogger.
Wait for a break in the traffic then get under the bridge taking it slow and level as it’s a tight one.

Bridge 35

Grand Senora Desert: Frogger.
Take care going under this one as the street signs drop you down a lot closer to the freeway below so ensure there’s no trucks / traffic coming down before going for the bridge.

Bridge 36

Banham Canyon: Frogger.
Ensure the traffic is light then head under the bridge. It’s a small bridge but it’s close to the ground so take it steady.

Bridge 37

Lago Zancudo: Frogger.
Another bridge over water so take it slow and steady to get through ensuring you don’t get to close the water.

Bridge 38

Lago Zancudo: Frogger.
Take it slow going up stream under the bridge ensuring you don’t hit the struts or touch the water below.

Bridge 39

Lago Zancudo: Frogger.
Another simple bridge to get under.

Bridge 40

Zancudo River: Frogger.
Take it slow so you don’t touch the water below then use forward momentum to get under the bridge.

Bridge 41

Great Chaparral: Frogger.
An easy bridge to get through considering some of the ones you’ve already managed.

Bridge 42

Zancudo River: Frogger.
Head under the railway bridge taking care not to hit the struts either side of you.

Bridge 43

Zancudo River: Frogger.
Take it very slow and steady here as you have minimal room to navigate through the gap, there’s also water below you so keep high enough to avoid it but low enough so as to not hit the bridge above.

Bridge 44

Alamo Sea: Frogger.
Slow and steady through this one as one wave can pull you in to the water. Keep an eye on the raised terrain to the left / right as you make your way under the bridge.

Bridge 45

Cassidy Creek: Frogger.
One of the easiest bridges on the list, you could potentially do this one at full speed in a plane.

Bridge 46

Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness: Frogger.
A tight bridge given its location in the mountains.

Take it very slow both on the approach as well as going under the bridge whilst keeping a good eye on the land below you as it has a sharp elevation under the bridge itself.

Bridge 47

Pacific Ocean: Frogger.
One of the easiest bridges on the list to get under.

Bridge 48

San Chianski Mountain Range: Frogger.
This is a very tight one to get through. You have to go through above the road as no other gap is wide enough. Whilst the Frogger will fit, you might have an easier time if you’re struggling using the Buzzard.

Either way, check there aren’t any trucks / tractors going under the bridge and you’ll have an easier time of it.

Bridge 49

San Chianski Mountain Range: Frogger.
Ensure there’s no large traffic coming through then make your way under the bridge.

Bridge 50

Mount Chiliad: Frogger.
Head through keeping an eye on the traffic. I find it easier going against the traffic so you don’t get any surprises from behind.

That’s all 50 Under the Bridge locations in Grand Theft Auto V.

Knife Flights

For the Knife Flights, whilst the Hydra from Fort Zancudo is the best option given it’s agility, I stole a Velum from Los Santos International Airport then went on to complete all 15 knife flights with it.

Stealing the Hydra can be challenging given the artillery present at the base (tanks, missiles etc.) so at least there’s another option should you need it.

Knife Flight 1

Get close to the black building on the East side of the street when coming from a South Westerly direction.

Knife Flight 2

Get as close as you can to the 2 tall buildings at the end of the street on the West side when coming through on a North Eastern approach.

Knife Flight 3

You need to skim the building to the East side of the multi story car park when coming from a Westerly direction.

Knife Flight 4

Directly after the Knife Flight 3, keep the knife flight going where you can skim the next sky scraper immediately after the third.

Knife Flight 5

Coming from an Easterly approach you need the tall black building to the left of the 2 you’ll come to.

Skim past it then get ready to angle out of the knife flight flight hard to avoid crashing into the approaching skyscrapers.

Knife Flight 6

This is a very difficult Knife Flight to complete as you need to knife in between 2 very narrow, short buildings which both angle in then back out giving you a false sense of security.

I found it a lot easier coming from the North then getting myself just over the building before the knife flight, ducking down then knifing through at the last second with good speed.

You have a good chance of losing your plane after completing the knife flight, check your stats (Pause> Stats> Vehicle> Knife Flights) to ensure you were successful after crashing (if you do).

Knife Flight 7

Knife flight in between 2 skyscrapers coming in from an Easterly direction.

Knife Flight 8

Fly up from a Southerly direction where you need to knife through the gap to the right of the white building with the rectangular cut outs.

Be careful of the tree at the end of the knife flight and angle out to the East to complete this one.

Knife Flight 9

Fly up on a Southerly approach to the triangular building then skim around in between the large buildings until you are notified on screen this one is completed.

Knife Flight 10

Immediately after completing Knife Flight 9, hold the knife along the natural line of the adjacent building to complete this one at the same time.

Knife Flight 11

A nice and easy one, approach from the East then skim either the inside gap of the 2 tall buildings heading off towards the sea afterwards.

Knife Flight 12

Approach this one from the West nice and low so as to avoid the crane that will catch you out if you’re to high then skim the building above the road to complete this one.

Knife Flight 13

I prefer to approach this from the East, you need to skim the 2 tall buildings behind the large Space Monkey billboard.

Knife Flight 14

Come down to Los Santos from the North then carefully line yourself up taking care of the spires sticking up where you can skim in between the buildings then come out of the knife flight towards the West to avoid a tall building to the East (not essential but saves you losing the plane).

Knife Flight 15

This is tight but manageable, come down towards Los Santos from the North then squeeze in between the gap between the tall sky scraper and the small building over the roof taking car not to hit the adjacent building on the approach.

Once you have successfully made it under all 50 bridges and have completed all 15 knife flights, your Trophy will unlock.

That’s the Grand Theft Auto V Close Shave Trophy Guide complete I hope it helps you complete all Under the Bridge and Knife Flights challenges.
