Here is the Lies of P Puppet-Devouring Green Monster boss guide which will help you take down the toughest 2 phase boss you will have come up against by a long way who is situated in the back of the Barren Swamp biome.
Location: Chapter 8, Barren Swamp Bridge.
Rewards: Puppet-Devouring Green Hunter’s Ergo, Golden Ergo, x15,985 Ergo.
Before you take on the Puppet-Devouring Green Monster I strongly recommend you spend a few hours levelling up especially if you want to go into the fight without a Summon as this boss is incredibly tough. Not so much in the first phase but the 2nd phase is bordering on obtuse.
The Puppet-Devouring Green Monster in its first phase is very tough and resistant to every element except fire which it is weak to and you will need to make good use of that element whether you summon a Spectre at the Crack’s Calling or not so ensure you have Thermite and Fire abrasives as well as your strongest offensive throwables equipped such as Shot Put and Throwing Cells which is how I managed to bring the beast down.
The first phase of the fight will see you hit with charged attacks, swipes and decay inflicting tentacle slaps which is a status more detrimental to your weapons than your health so having Urgent Repair Tools and a Grindstone equipped will be of large benefit here to repair your weaponry. You could also go in with a lighter build allowing you to have 2 weapons equipped allowing you to switch if one weapon becomes broken due to degradation.
You can get in under the Monsters legs when it raises up which will prevent you taking damage for the most part then back away as it dodges backwards which is usually followed with Decay inflicting attacks or spit being thrown at you again inflicting heavy amounts of Decay.
One nasty attack which comes in the first phase of the boss fight is where it burrows underground before knocking you into the air and on your ass which takes a few seconds to recover from. I dodged, parried, blocked and performed Fable Arts but none of what I did ever managed to counter this attack so having a Spectre grants a 50/50 chance you won’t be targeted.
Try and be as efficient as you can be in the first phase of the fight as this will then give you a much greater chance of success in the 2nd phase. If you have used all or most of your Pulse Cells as well as burnt through your consumables you will have the Devil’s own job of taking down the next phase which is essentially where the Green Monster combines with the Scrapped Watchman and becomes a God tier boss.
The 2nd phase will challenge most players in varying ways as the Puppet-Devouring Green Monster goes on large rampages steamrolling through the arena dealing incredibly high damage as well as utilising the extended, tracking spinning arm attacks from the Scrapped Watchman boss except these hit a lot harder and are seemingly faster than they were in the Chapter 2 boss fight.
Never allow yourself to be under half health and if you are you need to fix that as a priority as if the Monster becomes enraged and goes on the warpath you will more than likely find yourself back at the Stargazer. Once you are in the second phase, throw everything you have a the beast in an effort to bring it down. You can always farm for more consumables after the fight, this is one where being frugal with your gear will be more detrimental than anything else. You do have some challenges coming up but there are also plenty of opportunities to restock.
Make good use of your Fable Arts and Fatal Blows if you can get the beast staggered and always keep it in your sights. It’s easy to not pan the camera around after a heavy attack just to then take another one you didn’t see coming. Employ fire attacks whenever you can and keeping pushing through failure until you manage to take the win. Tough fight this one.
