Upgrading The Sanguinarix
As you collect Saintly Quintessence you can then use a given number of them with Pieta who will then upgrade the Sanguinarix which either gives you more charges or improved healing efficiency so take the Saintly Quintessence back to her and upgrade your Sanguinarix to its max level which then unlocks Salvation in Blood as well as giving you plenty of charges and healing to help you through those difficult moments.
Saintly Quintessence 1
Location: Defiled Sepulchre.
Go through the tutorial to the Umbral Realm then continue through the area until you see 2 enemies kneeling down praying to a statue in the wall who you can Soulflay to spawn the Saintly Quintessence you can collect.
Saintly Quintessence 2
Location: Pilgrim’s Perch, Vestige of Chabui.
Defeat the Scourged Sister Delyth boss then go into the Alcove to the right of the boss arena and interact with the statue which will drop a Saintly Quintessence.
Saintly Quintessence 3
Location: Forsaken Fen, Vestige of Valade.
Go through the Forsaken Fen to the water’s edge where you need to go into Umbral then up to your right to remove the Umbral Entity, go through the gap then make your way round to your right at the bonfire. Go to the end of the walkway then kick the plank down to create a shortcut, drop down and take out the Womb of Despair as well as any other enemies before Soulfalying the statue which gives you this Saintly Quintessence.
Saintly Quintessence 4
Location: Fitzroy’s Gorge, Vestige of Betrayed Eliard / Vestige of the Pale Butcher.
Cross the bridge in Fitzroy’s Gorge from where you defeat the Ruiner boss then go down into the courtyard and die to the Lightreaper. Go back and collect your Vigor before going down through the region pass the Pilgrims whilst looking left to see a ramp you can take up before getting to the Hound and the Proselyte Knight. Phase into Umbral, defeat the Mendacious Visage and any other enemies in the local area before Soulflaying the statue which drops the Saintly Quintessence.
Saintly Quintessence 5
Location: Lower Calrath, Vestige of Lydia the Numb Witch.
Go through the Lower Calrath region from the Vestige of Lydia the Numb Witch then once you get to the second bonfire with the wooden ramp behind it go up then into Umbral, head through the now accessible building on your left and climb the Umbral ladder. Head up the stairs looking left to find a statue you can Soulflay which drops the Saintly Quintessence.

Location: Lower Calrath, Vestige of Doln.
Proceed through the Mining District from the Vestige of Doln dealing with the enemies as you go, once you’re down the stairs defeat the Infernal Enchantress and keep an eye on the slope in case the Ruiner comes down. Go into Umbral then Soulflay the statue on the left side to acquire this Saintly Quintessence.

Location: Sunless Skein, Vestige of Catrin.
Drain the water from the Vestige of Catrin in Axiom then go through the tunnel with the Proselyte Knight, follow the path going through the bars as you normally would to the wooden walkway. You will need to go left through the opening pass the Proselyte Knight to proceed through the area, however, before doing so you can drop down to the wooden platform underneath where the Knight will be and collect the Saintly Quintessence.

Location: Sunless Skein, Vestige of Antuli.
Head through the passage and open the door with the Sunless Skein Key you can acquire in the area where you pull the lever behind the Vestige of Catrin to open the portcullis that creates a shortcut back through to the Skinstealer boss arena. You will now be a previously inaccessible area of Lower Calrath overlooking the area leading up to the Vestige of Lydia the Numb Witch. Go into Umbral and defeat the Ruiner as well as the Mendacious Visage then Soulflay the statue to acquire this Saintly Quintessence.

Location: Revelation Depths, Vestige of Catrin.
The Revelation Depths is a completely optional area on your first 2 playthroughs and one which can be found by firstly defeating the Skinstealer who drops the Draingae Control Key. Take this to the gate in the sewers back down the hill and pull the lever which lowers the cages allowing you to access Revelation Depths then head down through the region to the wooden platform which has an elevator either side.
Go forward then round to the right where you will see a broken bridge in front of you (don’t take a right to the Pilgrim and the ladder), go into Umbral to create a series of bridges of platforms. Go forward then right and climb the ladder, turn around and pull the platform towards you then cross to the large platform, take out all of the enemies and Soulflay the statue which enables you to collect this Saintly Quintessence.
Saintly Quintessence 10
Location: Fief of the Chill Curse, Vestige of Svornil.
Work your way around the Fief of the Chill Curse to the point you need to pull the platforms across in Umbral to allow you to drop down, pull the lever to open the portcullis and continue through the region. Once you drop down onto the first platform, turn around and pull the platform the wrong way which then allows you to safely drop down onto the platform below. Go into the cut out in the wall and Soulflay the statue which drops the Saintly Quintessence. You can then go up and over the ramp to continue your journey.

Location: Fief of the Chill Curse, Vestige of Loash.
Defeat the Hollow Cros boss then proceed down to the beacon, once you’re done go down and out of that tower and go left before going into Umbral which then removes all of the water. Go through the viaduct to the previously inaccessible area and Soulflay the 3 corpses to remove the Umbral Entity which will be blocking your way to the statue which holds the Saintly Quintessence.

Location: Pilgrim’s Perch, Vestige of Dieter.
Once you’re done in the Fief of the Chill Curse region, return to Skyrest Bridge and acquire the Pilgrim’s Perch Key which Stomund should have left for you, otherwise buy it for 18,000 Vigor then go to the Vestige of Blind Agatha. Open the door to the left of the Vestige and follow the perilous path up and through taking a right once you’re pass the Hound and Knight then out to the Vestige of Dieter. Rest then go down the hill and into Umbral which allows you to drop down to your left onto a bridge with an Umbral platform at the end that has several enemies to take out. Defeat them all then Soulflay the statue to get this Saintly Quintessence.
Saintly Quintessence 13
Location: Manse of the Hallowed Brothers, Vestige of Brother Jeremiah.
Once you have opened the door leading through to the Tower of Penance and Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters using the Abbot Vernoff’s Key, go into the courtyard, take out the Holy Bulwark Knight and go up the stairs to your right into a room with several Penitent enemies. Defeat them all then go into Umbral where a statue will appear above the grate you can Soulflay to receive this Saintly Quintessence.

Location: Tower of Penance, Vestige of Brother Jeremiah.
Go down to the bottom level of the Tower of Penance which you can access by crossing the bridge behind the Manse of the Hallowed Brothers region and defeating the Blessed Carrion Knight Sanisho boss. Go left through the passage and into Umbral where you can then climb the Umbral ladder taking you through to an area with a few enemies around. Take them down then Soulflay the statue for this Saintly Quintessence.

Location: Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters, Vestige of Rosamund.
Head up through the Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters from the Vestige of Rosamund pass the area where the Abbess is firing a beam of Radiance down at you. Take her out with ranged attacks / spells then continue up to the Scourged Sister who will be in the small courtyard out of the room with the shrine, there will also be 2 Ardent Penitent enemies in this area so be careful not to get ambushed. Look across the courtyard to see a pile of rubble with some wooden beams sticking out then go into Umbral to reveal a hidden path. Go to the end of the path being careful the umbral bugs don’t send you off the platform and head to the end where a Mendacious Visage will awaken so put it down then you’re free to safely Soulflay the statue which holds this Siantly Quintessence.

Location: Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters, Vestige of Rosamund.
Acquire the Rune of Adyr and defeat the Rapturous Huntress Lirenne boss then head up and out to your right where you will go down the stairs to an outside courtyard. Go into Umbral and run through where the gate was opposite the stairs and cross the walkway to the balcony which holds a statue you can Soulflay to acquire this Saintly Quintessence.

Location: The Empyrean, Vestige of Iorelo the Cursed Knight.
Go through the Empyrean taking out the 2 Abbess enemies and the Rapturous Huntress if she aggros then go into Umbral and climb through the tower on the left side of the area to a large room, go through the left wall after going right then stay left along the passageway. There will be 2 Abiding Defenders in this room who you need to defeat in quick succession as well as 2 Wraiths so be careful as you put them all down and run to the end of the left walkway to find the statue that holds the Saintly Quintessence.

Location: Bramis Castle, Vestige of the Forgotten Guardian.
Go up through Bramis Castle from the Vestige of the Forgotten Guardian then when you get to the wooden room you will either encounter Damarose the Marked as a boss or an Infernal Enchantress and 2 Hounds which will be determined by the ending you are currently going for. Take whoever is there out then before going up the wooden ramp go into Umbral and cross the platform, climb the ladder and take out any enemies who have aggro’d. You can then go to the top right corner of the Umbral platform and collect the Saintly Quintessence from the statue.

Location: Bramis Castle, Vestige of the Bloody Pilgrim.
Go up through the Castle and take out the Conflagrant Seer who will explode the crystals allowing you to interact with the lever to spin the spiral staircase so do all of that then go up the staircase to the upper level after spinning the stairs. Head left then left again to a walkway which will have a broken section of railing on the left side so go into Umbral to create a platform then look right and pull the Umbral platform out. Go round and stand on the platform you just pulled out then pull the platform against the broken railings across which you can then stand on and pull the bridge out from underneath the statue you will see against the far wall. Jump on to the bridge then Soulflay the statue and pick up this Saintly Quintessence.
Saintly Quintessence 20
Location: Bramis Castle, Vestige of the Bloody Pilgrim.
Come back on to the walkway with the broken railing from the previous Saintly Quintessence then cross the walkway as you normally would and collect the Royal Key from the bookcase on your right. Go back down the spiral staircase to the bottom then look towards the lever you pulled to spin the stairs, go through the door on your left and in to Umbral which removes the flames from the stairs. Take out the Infernal Enchantress and any other enemies in the local area as you go right an open the door using the Royal Key.
Head left be cautious of the Wraiths and open the door out to the gardens which is filled with hard hitting enemies so deal with them all then run left where you will see an elevator. Step on the elevator to send it up then quickly roll off so you stay on the same level and look down the shaft to see the statue tucked away which you can Soulflay to bring the Saintly Quintessence up to your level you can then collect.
