Here is the Lords of the Fallen Umbral Adept trophy guide which will help you collect all Umbral Spells of which there are 22 spread throughout the game all of which can be collected on your first playthrough. From the start of the game you want to be focusing on completing Exacter Dunmire’s questline as you will need to advance that to purchase some of the Radiant Spells from Molhu all of which can be done by the time you reach the Manse of the Hallowed Brothers as long as you have followed along with the, The Price of Knowledge trophy guide. There are 2 Spells that are RNG drops from tough enemies and they have very low chances of dropping so ensure you have Lucky Paws as well as the Bountiful Ring equipped to increase their drop chances.
There are some spells which you will need to collect boss Remembrances to use which is done by taking down the relevant boss then after the fight, going into Umbral and activating the Stigma which you then take to Molhu in Skyrest Bridge to exchange for the item(s) required. In order to cast any of the Umbral Spells none of which you need to use, just collecting them is enough but if you do want to use them you will need a Umbral Catalyst as well as the required stats to be able to cast them. The 22 Umbral Spells you need to collect to unlock Umbral Adept are:
Umbral Orb
Location: Skyrest Bridge (Umbral Realm).
Phase through to Umbral in Skyrest Bridge then go up the stairs to the left of Exacter Dunmire and speak to Molhu who you can purchase the Umbral Orb Spell from.
Lingering Despair
Location: Skyrest Bridge (Umbral Realm).
Phase through to Umbral in Skyrest Bridge then go up the stairs to the left of Exacter Dunmire and speak to Molhu who you can purchase the Lingering Despair Spell from.
Poison Weapon
Location: Skyrest Bridge.
The Poison Weapon Umbral Spell will become available to purchase from Molhu in Skyrest Bridge once you’re in Umbral after handing over the Book of Revelations (refer to The Past Shapes the Present) you can find in the Pilgrim’s Perch region again in Umbral by going down the ladder which has no floor in Axiom then following the path down.
Umbral Guardian
Location: Skyrest Bridge.
The Umbral Guardian Umbral Spell will become available to purchase from Molhu in Skyrest Bridge once you’re in Umbral after handing over the Book of Revelations (refer to The Past Shapes the Present) you can find in the Pilgrim’s Perch region again in Umbral by going down the ladder which has no floor in Axiom then following the path down.
Flesh Tide
Location: Skyrest Bridge.
You can purchase the Flesh Tide Spell from Molhu once you have the Remembrance of the Congregator of Flesh.
Pallid Bile
Location: Pilgrim’s Perch, Forsaken Fen.
The Pallid Bile Umbral Spell has a very low RNG chance of dropping from any Womb of Despair enemy which are the enemies found in Umbral holding their stomachs and who can spray heavy Wither based attacks at you. There are a good number of Womb of Despair enemies in and around Pilgrim’s Perch and Forsaken Fen as well as pretty much throughout the rest of the game.
Septic Heave
Location: Forsaken Fen, Vestige of Valade.
The Septic Heave Umbral Spell has a very low RNG chance of dropping from any Shuja Strider enemy which are the ones who throw poison at you in Forsaken Fen. You will need to be in Umbral to hit the Striders off their stilts then continue farming them until you eventually receive the Septic Heave Umbral Spell.
Putrefaction
Location: Forsaken Fen, Vestige of Valade.
Go through to the edge of the lake after taking out the poison rock Turtles then phase into Umbral. Go up to the right of the area and remove the Umbral Entity then head through the gap and round to the bonfire. You can then take a left to go to the Hushed Saint’s boss arena but instead, go along the wooden walkway then drop down to your right. Stay left and go up the the hut on the far left side of the biome, smash the wooden barricade blocking the door then defeat the Womb of Despair inside. You can then go to the top right corner of the hut and collect the Putrefaction Spell.
Latimer's Javelin
Location: Skyrest Bridge.
You can purchase the Latimer’s Javelin from Molhu in Skyrest Bridge once you have the Remembrance of the Hushed Saint.
Barrage Of Echoes
Location: Skyrest Bridge.
You will be able to purchase the Barrage of Echoes Spell from Molhu in Skyrest Bridge once you have the Remembrance of the Unbroken Promise from the optional Unbroken Promise boss at the bottom of the Revelation Depths region.
Martyrdom
Location: Skyrest Bridge.
You will be able to purchase the Martyrdom Spell from Molhu in Skyrest Bridge once you have the Remembrance of the Unbroken Promise.
Hibernal Cleave
Location: Fief of the Chill Curse, Vestige of Svornil.
The Hibernal Cleave Spell has an incredibly low chance of dropping from a Kinrangr Hunter enemy in the Fief of the Chill Curse. The are the large warrior enemies with the Axe and Frostbite attacks.
Misery Missile
Location: Fief of the Chill Curse, Vestige of Svornil.
Work your way through the Fief of the Chill Curse to where you cross the bridge with the Hunter and the Ranger at the end then go right and after you drop down go left into the dilapidated Church and defeat the optional Griefbound Rowena boss. With her dead go into Umbral if you aren’t alrady the Soulflay the statue at the back of the Church and collect the Misery Missle Spell.
Pestilent Blade
Location: Fief of the Chill Curse, Vestige of Svornil.
After going around and opening the portcullis go through the gulley and then through the tunnel where the ice fall will happen. Continue through to the end and head through the area with the Ranger and the Hounds. Go into Umbral then defeat the Mendacious Visage where you can then Soulflay the statue in the courtyard and collect the Pestilent Blade Spell.
Grieving Gaze
Location: Skyrest Bridge.
The Grieving Gaze Spell can be purchased from Molhu in Skyrest Bridge once you have the Remembrance of the Hollow Crow.
Diminishing Missile
Location: Pilgrim’s Perch, Vestige of Dieter.
Open the door to the left of the Vestige of Blind Agatha with the Pilgrim’s Perc Key which you can purchase from Stomund for 18,000 Vigor then follow the path through to the ladder you can climb. Go right at the end of the tunnel then once outside again go left and rest at the Village of Dieter before going down the hill and round to the right taking out the Crimson Rector Knight and any other aggro’d enemies including the Sin-Piercer and her Hounds. Go into Umbral then look at the statue underneath the mound the Sin-Piercer was on to find a statue you can Soulflay which gives you the Diminishing Missile Spell.
Blood Harvest
Location: Skyrest Bridge.
You can purchase the Blood Harvest Spell from Molhu once you have access to the Manse of the Hallowed Brothers region.
Umbral Agony
Location: Skyrest Bridge.
You can purchase the Umbral Agony Spell from Molhu once you have access to the Manse of the Hallowed Brothers region.
Umbral Slash
Location: Skyrest Bridge.
You can purchase the Umbral Agony Spell from Molhu once you have access to the Manse of the Hallowed Brothers region.
Umbral Weapon
Location: Skyrest Bridge.
You can purchase the Umbral Agony Spell from Molhu once you have access to the Manse of the Hallowed Brothers region.
Painful Echo
Location: Skyrest Bridge.
You can purchase the Painful Echo Spell from Molhu after acquiring the Remembrance of Reinhold the Immured in the Tower of Penance basement.
Graveyard Fog
Location: Upper Calrath, Vestige of the Forgotten Guardian.
Once you have taken the Lightreaper down in Upper Calrath which will be the final time you’ll face him in the game you can then go out of the courtyard and through the region to the wine cellar with the Raw Manglers and the Trapper inside. Come out of the building and go up the hill where an Infernal Enchantress will be waiting for you so deal with her then go into Umbral. Soulflay the corpse in the back wall then go round and down to street level Soulflaying the platforms out of the walls. Go back up the stairs and use the platforms you created to get across to the area where the Graveyard Fog Spell can be collected.
