For me, 12 follows 11, however, that doesn’t seem to be the case over at NetherRealm Studios as they have revealed Mortal Kombat 1 is in development.
Here’s what we know so far.
Of course, everyone in the business assumed that the next instalment in the beautifully gore-rific Mortal Kombat franchise would be Mortal Kombat 12 as Mortal Kombat 11 came out in 2019 and quickly gained a very loyal following of players young and old enjoying ripping peoples spines out of their opponents torso with the tap of a short button combination.
Graphically, Mortal Kombat 1 is set to be the best, most brutal entry in the series yet with incredible sound work and a host of new Fatalities being thrown into the mix dropping you in the action harder than ever before and could you just contemplate the visceral rush of a possible VR Mode if they can manage it.
Mortal Kombat 1 has been pegged for release on the 19th September 2023 with pre-orders going live from May 19th.

As you can see, we are definitely seeing the return of old favourites: Scorpion and Sub-Zero as well as Mileena and Kitana with Liu Kang and Raiden coming along for a scrap.
PlayStation are doing a massive showcase in May which will reveal a ton more information hopefully.
We have a Komplete guide put together for Mortal Kombat 11 if there’s anything left for you to do before the next entry bursts into our homes and offices Q3 2023.
We will have more details as it becomes but for now we are buzzing about this one!
