Need For Speed Unbound Trophy Guide

Welcome to the Need For Speed Unbound trophy guide.

Please Note: You will need to be signed in to EA Play BEFORE you play any of the game otherwise it can prevent any trophies from unlocking.

You can make an EA Play account here: https://www.ea.com/en-gb/ea-play.

Then as long as you have linked the EA Play account to your Need For Speed Unbound game (you will be prompted on boot) you should be able to unlock everything as you progress.

If you played Need For Speed Heat you will feel right at home playing Need For Speed Unbound as it’s the same style of game with an open world, collectibles, long jumps, speed traps etc.

You can either get all of the online done first, focus on the main story or flit in between the 2 as you race for vengeance throughout Lakeshore.

Your starting car choice is completely up to you, I went for the Mitsubishi Eclipse then use our own judgement on where you want to go with your upgrades and customisation options.

You will be gifted a lot of cars for completing certain trophies such as Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini for example as you work towards Found Family and Cleaning Up meaning you won’t really have to spend any money on vehicles throughout the game as the cars on offer are more than powerful enough to get the job done.

The fact that these cars also unlock in online mode as well means you will have more than enough vehicles to complete the entire game.

The only 2 cars I needed to buy throughout the entire game were the Mitsubishi Eclipse as a starting car then the Nissan Silvia Spec.R Aero (2002) which can be bought for $150,000 to complete Catch My Drift. Other than that I used the reward cars acquired by working towards Cleaning Up for everything else with a few upgrades here and there at marginal cost.

I do strongly suggest you get the collectible trophies earnt once you have finished the prologue as they, like I say, not only do they give you cars but also a ton of cash which is invaluable in the early game to progress.

There are 100 Bear collectibles to smash throughout Lakeshore. The Bears are essentially inflatable mascots that you can collect by running into them which is easy enough for the most part.

You can view how many Bears you have collected by going from the Pause menu> Challenges> View All Challenges> Collectibles> Bears. Once you have collected all 100 Bears you will earn the M4 GTS ’16 as a reward.

Need For Speed Unbound Most Wanted trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Most Wanted
Escape a Heat 5 cop chase

Heat 5 chases will be a lot easier later in the game, especially after you have completed the 3rd Qualifier as you will need a high powered vehicle to stand a chance of getting away from the Heat.

Every time you complete an event your Heat level will rise o keep racing and completing events whilst not getting busted until you at Heat level 5 then either initiate a cop chase in free roam or get the cops on you during an event which happens more often than not.

Finish the event where the cop chase will be initiated and escape the cops pursuing you which is a lot easier when driving at high speed whilst weaving in and out of traffic and using buildings to break their line of sight on you.

There’s no need to get back to your garage / safehouse, you just need to escape the cops so keep racing until they lose you then stay hidden until the blue bar completely goes which will happen slower at Heat 5 than at the lower Heats, where, once they have lost you, your trophy will unlock.

Found Family
Complete the Grand

Before you can race in the Grand you will need to firstly complete the qualifiers which can be accessed by completing a session in the day and night for each day of the week: Sunday through to Friday where the qualifier will unlock on the Saturday.

To complete a given session, for example, Sunday Night, you will need to go out in to Lakeshore where the game is set and complete an event. Your finishing position doesn’t matter as long as you finish where you can then return to your garage / safehouse.

You are free to race in as many events as are available per session just be aware that for every completed event your Heat level will rise giving you more cops after you that become more and more troublesome to deal with as the Heat level rises.

If you are busted then you will lose all of the “red” money that you haven’t banked yet and cash is important in this game as you will need to buy upgrades for your vehicle as well as have a certain amount of cash available as well as a particular tier of car (A, A+, S, S+) to even begin a Qualifier.

You will have 3 weeks of events to complete for the qualifiers then a further week of events to complete before you can access the Grand itself.

The 3 weeks worth of qualifiers, their respective buy-in costs, the tier of car required as well as the reward you will receive upon winning are as follows:

  1. Qualifier 1:
    $20,000 Buy-in.
    A Tier Vehicle.
    Reward: Defender 110 ’15.
  2. Qualifier 2:
    $50,000 Buy-in.
    A+ Tier Vehicle.
    Reward: Crown Victoria.
  3. Qualifier 3:
    $100,000.
    S Tier Vehicle.
    Reward: GT-R Premium Edition ’17.

With all 3 Qualifiers complete you will then need to complete an additional week of events where you can then access the Grand which has the following Buy in costs, car tiers and rewards:

  • The Grand:
    $200,000 Buy-in.
    3 Cars required from either A, A+, S, S+ tiers.
    Reward: Countach ’88.

Once you have completed the Grand you will then earn your trophy having completed the main story path for Need For Speed Unbound.

Continue through the story to where you race back to the garage in the hot car. This will only take you a few races to get to this point, completing the prologue unlocking your trophy in the process.

Need For Speed Unbound Adbusting trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Adbusting
Break all billboard collectibles

You will need to smash through a total of 80 billboards throughout Lakeshore.

Billboards can be smashed by driving through them which sometimes will be simple, other times, not so much, I would leave this one until much later in the game where you will have access to high powered vehicles helping you get the harder to reach Billboards a lot easier.

You can track how many Billboards you have found in the Pause menu> Challenges> View All Challenges> Collectibles> Billboards.

Once you have smashed all 80 Billboards you will earn the Focus RS ’16 as a reward.

Click the link to go to the complete Adbusting trophy guide.

Need For Speed Unbound Heaven Spot trophy

Heaven Spot
Collect all street art collectibles

There are 80 Street Art collectibles to locate in Lakeshore.

Street Art can be collected by going to a mural on the side of a wall / road / bridge etc then interact with the artwork with Square to add it to your collection.

You can view how many Street Art you have collected from the Pause menu> Challenges> View All Challenges> Collectibles> Street Art.

Once you have collected all 80 Street Art you will earn the 488 GTB ’15 as a reward.

Need For Speed Unbound In The Zone trophy
PlayStation Silver Trophy

In The Zone
Get 3 stars on all Speed Run activities

There are 30 Speed Runs to be found and 3 starred in Lakeshore which will give you a total of 90 stars to earn.

A Speed Run requires you to hit an average speed throughout a given number of checkpoints which I wouldn’t begin to attempt until you have an S tier car at least as the speeds are tough.

You can view the Speed Runs you have left to do on the map as the ones you have complete will have a small tick on them and be a duller shade of purple than the ones you are yet to complete.

Bear in mind you will need to earn 3 stars across all 30 Speed Runs so hover over any completed Speed Runs to see how many stars you have for a given Run.

You can view how many Speed Runs you have completed by going from the Pause menu> Challenges> View All Challenges> Activities> Speed Runs. Once you have earnt all 90 stars in the 30 Speed Runs you will earn the Cayman GT4 ’15 as a reward.

Click the link to go to the complete In The Zone trophy guide.

Need For Speed Unbound Frequent Flyer trophy
PlayStation Silver Trophy

Frequent Flyer
Get 3 stars on all Long Jump activities

In total there are 45 long jumps you will need to 3 star which gives you 135 stars to earn just on long jumps. There will be 4 stars you can achieve on each of the Long Jumps, however, the 4th is for beating a Rival which will give you an additional cash boost but you only need to worry about getting 3 stars for each of the 45 Long Jumps for the purposes of this trophy.

To see how many Long Jumps you have completed go from the Pause menu> Challenges> View All Challenges> Activities> Long Jumps. Once you have earnt 3 stars across all 45 Long Jumps you will earn the 370Z Nismo ’15 as a reward.

Click the link to go to the complete Frequent Flyer trophy guide.

Need For Speed Unbound Catch My Drift trophy
PlayStation Silver Trophy

Catch My Drift
Get 3 stars on all Drift Zone activities

Here is the Need For Speed Unbound Catch My Drift trophy guide where we will help you get 3 stars on all Drift Zone activities. There are 35 Drift Zones you need to 3 star throughout Lakeshore which can only be completed in certain types of cars: Drifters.

In your garage you will see that every car has a bar on the right of the screen with left being for grip and the right side being for drift. You need to equip parts on your car that allow you to tune your car to move the slider as far to the right as possible.

Every car in Need For Speed Unbound can drift, however, only specially tuned cars will stand a chance of getting close to the 3 star targets. To see how many drifts you have completed go to the Pause menu> Challenges> View All Challenges> Activities> Drift Zones.

Once you have earnt all 105 stars throughout every Drift Zone you will earn the 600LT ’18 as a reward.

Click the link to go to the complete Catch My Drift trophy guide.

Need For Speed Unbound Caught On Camera trophy
PlayStation Silver Trophy

Caught On Camera
Get 3 stars on all Speed Trap activities

You will need to earn 3 stars across 50 Speed Traps giving you 150 stars to earn. Getting 3 stars on a Speed Trap requires you to go through the past a speed camera at a given high speed which will be a lot easier once you have a car in at least S tier as the 3 star speeds require perfect driving at high speed to be successful.

You can view how many Speed Traps you have completed by going from the Pause menu> Challenges> View All Challenges> Activities> Speed Traps. Once you have earnt all 150 stars throughout all 50 speed traps you will earn the Aventador S Roadster ’17 as a reward.

Click the link to go to the complete Caught On Camera trophy guide.

Need For Speed Unbound Cleaning Up trophy
PlayStation Gold Trophy

Cleaning Up
Collect all collectibles and get 3 stars on all activities

This will more than likely be your last trophy in the Story Mode part of Need For Speed Unbound as you need to do almost everything else along the way for this one to unlock.

You will earn the following 7 trophies as you are making progress towards this one:

  1. Smash all 100 Bears to earn: The Bear Champ.
  2. Break all 80 Billboards to earn: Adbusting.
  3. Collect all 80 Street Art collectibles to earn: Heaven Spot.
  4. Get 3 stars on all Speed Run activities to earn: In The Zone.
  5. Get 3 stars on all Long Jump activities to earn: Frequent Flyer.
  6. Get 3 stars on all Drift Zone activities to earn: Catch My Drift.
  7. Get 3 stars on all Speed Trap activities to earn: Caught On Camera.

Once you have either collected the last collectible or earnt the last of the 3 stars after haveing collected and 3 starred everything else required, your trophy will then unlock.

Need For Speed Unbound Serious Guap trophy
PlayStation Silver Trophy

Serious Guap
Bank $75,000 during one session

A session is dictated from when you leave a garage / safehouse, complete some events then return to a garage / safehouse.

There are plenty of events that will pay you out high bank and you can complete multiple events to rack up the money if you’re early game.

Session money has a red border on the top right of the screen whereas your safe cash will be green, it’s the red cash you need to be over $75,000 when you return.

Just be careful as if the cops bust you, you will lose all of your bank and have to replay to re-earn it so successfully get back to a garage with $75,000+ to earn your trophy.

Need For Speed Unbound Cash Money Millionaire trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Cash Money Millionaire
Earn $1,000,000 in story mode

You will earn cash for completing events, you will earn a lot more cash for winning events and whilst a million does sound like a lot, it’s very doable by the end of the story mode and it’s a cumulative total meaning you are free to spend as you go through the game.

There doesn’t appear to be any way of tracking how much cash you have earnt in game so keep playing and considering a good number of S+ tier cars cost in excess of 1, 2 and 3 million dollar figures you will have $1,000,000 soon enough.

Need For Speed Unbound Flow Master trophy
PlayStation Silver Trophy

Flow Master
Score 250,000 during a Takeover event

As you progress through the game you will be able to access Takeover events which see you tear around a tight circuit with a lot of obstacles to smash into, drift around and jump across. The further through the game you go the higher the score requirement will be and more importantly you will get better at the Takeover events.

Find an S or S+tier Takeover on weeks 3 or 4 of the story then using a powerful car drift and slam your way through the course racking up some big points along the way.

A Takeover will always have different sections for each of the 3 laps so maximise your score by staying left on one lap, central for the 2nd lap then right on the third to help you earn maximum points whilst keeping it fast and stylish throughout.

Once you do cross a score of 250,00 you will earn your trophy.

You will easily earn this along the way to the Grand at the end of the story, especially if you farm races at the start to improve the initial performance of your vehicle to help you through the tougher events.

Your finishing position doesn’t matter as long as you finish the finish, where, upon the completion of your 30th race, your trophy will unlock.

Need For Speed Unbound Style it Out trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Style it Out
Complete 10 Takeover events

You will have plenty of opportunities to complete Takeover events as you progress through the story with most being locked behind certain car tiers so ensure you have the right car tier for the event you’re going for then as long as you complete 10 Takedown events your trophy will unlock.

Need For Speed Unbound Rydell's Rydes trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Rydell’s Rydes
Fully upgrade your story garage

Your story garage can be upgraded with your banked cash and will cost you a total of $157,500 to fully upgrade so this will be a trophy you can unlock much later in the game.

Upgrading your garage will give you access to better car parts improving the performance of your vehicle and can be done by being in a garage / safehouse then going: Rides> Performance> Upgrade Garage where you can upgrade at any point as long as you have the required funds.

The 4 levels of garage you need to have are:

  1. Sport Upgrade.
    Unlocked automatically.
  2. Pro Upgrade.
    $7,500.
Gives you access to Pro parts.
  3. Super Upgrade.
    $50,000.
Gives you access to Super parts.
  4. Elite Upgrade.
    $100,000.
Gives you access to Elite parts.

Fully upgrade your garage to earn your trophy.

Need For Speed Unbound Escape Artist trophy
PlayStation Silver Trophy

Escape Artist
Escape a Heat 5 cop chase in an A+ car

Heat 5 is reachable after completing week 2 in the story, you can get there before but it’s more hassle than it’s worth so play through to week 3 where you will have the option to either build up your heat level to level 5 by winning events, escaping the cops, restarting another event and so on building up your heat level to 5 or you can accept delivery jobs until you have one that places you in an A+ tier car with a Heat 5 level immediately active.

Escaping the police is a tricky one but it will be made a lot easier if you drive consistently fast, take tight turns smoothly and go off road where you can as long as you can be controlled through the trees where the cops will usually crash.

You will have 1 or 2 choppers coming after you as well at certain points which will make things a bit more difficult although they do run out of fuel after a couple of minutes so pay them no attention whilst you’re focusing on the ground units.

Once the blue bar appears on screen it will need to empty completely for you to have escaped the chase, if another cop sees you before the bar has run out the chase will instantly resume and you will need to escape again.

Stay on the move as the cops seem to hone in on your position regardless of where you go whilst keep a close on the radar which will give you a good few second of notice on the approaching cops.

Once you have successfully escaped a Heat 5 chase in an A+ tier car you will earn your trophy.

Need For Speed Unbound Public Enemy trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Public Enemy
Take down 5 cops within a single session

A single session seems to be a time between when you boot the game to when you close it off rather than when you leave the garage on a day / night cycle.

You will find a lot of cops patrolling the map so get yourself in a fairly powerful car such as the 488 GTB ’15 you receive as a reward for earning Heaven Spot then build up some speed and ram in to the side of a cop whilst going fairly fast: Around 130-150 mph which will total their car.

If you don’t hit them hard enough they will start a chase but they’re easy enough to lose at low heat levels.

Take down 5 cops in a session to earn your trophy.

Need For Speed Unbound Untouchable trophy
PlayStation Gold Trophy

Untouchable
Escape 50 cop chases

This will more than likely come through natural progression, especially given the fact if you have any sort of heat level during a night race the cops will automatically start chasing you upon its conclusion regardless if they were on you during the race or not.

Escaping at Heat levels 1, 2 or 3 is a lot easier than trying to escaping Heat levels 4 and 5 so if you have completed the game and haven’t unlocked this trophy, finish events with a low Heat level and escape the pursuit a total of 50 times to unlock your trophy.

Need For Speed Unbound Access All Areas trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Fully upgrade your Lakeshore Online garage

Your online garage will cost the same amount to upgrade as your story garage although you have a lot less scope for earning money online than you do during story so keep racing around until you have at least $157,500 spare and upgrade all 4 levels of your online garage to earn your trophy.

See Rydell’s Rides for the complete cost breakdown and what you will have access to.

Complete a Lakeshore Online playlist with 7 other players

This can be very tough as you can only boost with 4 players meaning you also need to have 3 random players join, play and stay throughout the entire playlist without them leaving or losing connection making this one a lot more luck based than anything else.

Fortunately, you only have to complete a playlist rather than win it so keep searching for lobby’s with 6 / 7 players in them and hopefully you’ll get this one done soon enough.

Head in to Online then select any playlist you require ensuring that you upgrade a car so it’s just about to go in to the next tier giving you the best chance of winning that particular event.

If you’re doing this with a friend then have them travel slowly round the event where you race around to the finish then go slow for them so they can then get their trophy then rinse and repeat throughout the tiers as long as you have the necessary tiers of car which you will do as long as you have both unlocked Found Family and Cleaning Up.

Once you successfully won a given car tier’s playlist you will then earn the respective trophies.

Use max Burst Nitrous 5 times during Lakeshore Online events

Ensure you are in an online lobby: main menu> Lakeshore Online> Events.

Burst Nitro is when your Nos gauge turns yellow and for it to be full it needs to have 3 yellow bars.

To fill your Burst Nitrous gauge get near misses in oncoming traffic, especially against cops, perform drifts, do burnouts and draft behind other players ensuring you use your Nos once it’s yellow as soon as it’s full as it will deplete quickly.

Use a full gauge of Burst Nitrous 5 times in online events to earn your trophy.
