Here we will go over all of the Nioh 2 Soaring Region Missions. Soaring region is the second main region in the game and will see you sink deeper into the story and challenge provided by Nioh 2.
In total, there are 3 main missions and 9 sub missions you will need to complete in the Soaring Region. If you need any other Nioh 2 missions then check out the Nioh 2 Samurai of Legend trophy guide which will help you through every single mission in Nioh 2.
You have a lot of missions to complete throughout Nioh 2, in total there are 20 Main Missions, 53 Sub Missions, 25 Dojo Missions and 9 Twilight Missions.
The Twilight missions which are much harder versions of some standard missions in the game and only appear sporadically at the rate of 2 every 24 hours (real time).
All of these missions can be completed on Dream of the Samurai which will help given the difficulty of the game, if you’re struggling to complete a mission, level yourself up a few times then come back for another go.
If you have already played Nioh, you will know what to expect here, if not then get ready for a tough slog through the missions in game which vary in difficulty requiring you to do anything from sneak through a village as you work towards taking down a single target or fight through enemy filled arenas in search of back to back boss fights.
Either way, we’re here to help you through the games missions as best as we can with a brief description on how to complete every mission in the region.
The 12 missions you need to complete in the Soaring Region are:
The Hidden Monsters Of Okehazama
Main Mission, level 35.
Proceed through the mission taking care not to fall off the cliffs, there are a lot of tough yokai in this mission so make good use of the shrines to learn the area ahead. Go through the mission to the Imagawa Yoshimoto boss.
He is a powerful lightning based boss which if he hits you with the lightning element, you will be significantly slowed down, use your yokai abilities / yokai shift to inflict heavy damage and avoid his lightning arrows over any other attack.
Take Imagawa Yoshimoto down to complete the mission.
The Mysterious One Night Castle
Main Mission, level 43.
Make your way through the mission, activating the floodgates as you go.
Head through around the water then go left at the end to activate a floodgate which will give you access to the shrine at the start of the mission.
Once you’re ready, head up and around to fight Kamaitachi, defeat it to complete the mission.
The Hollow Fortress
Main Mission, level 50.
Go through the mission taking care not to fall off the rafters near the lift, use the crank to lower the lift then ride it up, continue through the mission to the Saito Yoshitatsu boss fight.
Saito can become a brute through yokai shift so activate your own yokai shift to stand up to his, watch out for water based Guardian Spirit attacks and take Saito Yoshitatsu down to complete the mission.
Imagawa Diehard
Sub Mission, level 39.
Defeat both large Soldiers taking care around the Ninja which will open the path leading you through to Imagawa Yoshimoto, defeat him to complete the mission.
Hidetatsu's Dying Wish
Sub Mission, level 40.
Make your way up through the caves to the top area then take out the Dual Sword Yoki to complete the mission.
An Error In Calculation
Sub Mission, level 41.
Go through the area taking care not to fall off the cliff then head into the caves, take out the yokai in here then go round, open the chest to receive the Umebachi Abacus, where the mission will complete.
The Sunomoata Yokai Hunt
Sub Mission, level 46.
Go through the area then up to the right, go through the small building and activate the floodgate to lower the water.
Drop down and defeat all of the yokai, speak with the Kappa at the end to complete the mission.
A Hot-blooded Howl
Sub Mission, level 47.
Proceed across the area then down into the caves, help and join up with Maeda Toshii who will help you defeat the yokai as you make your way through to the red doors.
Go through the doors, take out the NPC wielding an Odachi to complete the mission.
The Fire God's Magatama
Sub Mission, level 49.
Make your way through the mission taking out the yokai dispelling the dark realm which will allow you to access one of the 3 chests throughout the area. Once you find Kagatsuchi’s Magatama, the mission will complete.
An End To Seclusion
Sub Mission, level 54.
Push through each area defeating the yokai as you go to unlock the next area, defeat the yokai in the final area to complete the mission.
The Shiftlings Wise Judgement
Sub Mission, level 57.
This is a strange little mission as depending on who you choose to side with, will depend on what you will fight throughout the mission, as well as who the mission boss will be.
If you decide to help Hachisuka Koroku (left) then you will fight through Soldiers as well as taking on and defeating Shibata Katsuie. If you choose to help Shibata Katsuie (right) then you will be fighting you way through yokai including Gaki, Ippon-Datara and One-eyed Oni.
This route is the harder of the 2 in my opinion as fighting Hachisuka Koroku can be a lot more challenging.
Either way, choose who you prefer then defeat the other to complete the mission.
The Viper And The Butterfly
Sub Mission, level 58.
Proceed through to the final room then defeat all of the yokai and the NPC to complete the mission.
That’s how to complete all 12 missions in the Soaring region. If you need to complete any other missions in Nioh 2, feel free to check out the Samurai of Legend trophy guide.
