NIOH 3 Fiery Invasion Main Mission

Here we will go over how to complete the NIOH 3 Fiery Invasion main mission which you will come to near the end of the 1572 Warring States era and it not only sees you needing to fight through an entire camp filled with Soldiers and Yokai. You also need to cleanse an entire Crucible. There’s 3 bosses to take on in this mission so do some levelling or farm for better gear then once you’re ready, begin the mission.

To get the best out of NIOH 3, we recommend:

All of our NIOH 3 content is captured on PC. Check out our current PC Setup.

Make your way through the camp taking care around the Horseman who ambushes you then in the next section use the rocks for care as the One-Eyed Oni will be throwing rocks at you so sprint round to your left then take out any Yokai who have followed you. Head round to the right where you will find a Shrine I recommend you rest at.

Take out the Skeleton Warrior and use a ranged attack to destroy the barrels to the right of the Oni or leave it for now, it won’t aggro unless you get close. Head up the hill being cautious of the 2 Snipers then kill the Elite at the top of the ramp. Before opening the doors, drop down the ledges on the left side and kick the ladder down which creates a nice shortcut back to the upcoming boss arena.

Open the gate where you will be greeted by your old mate from earlier in the game, Yamagata Masakage who has been juicing on some Spirit Stones and this time he transforms into a Yokai riding a headless horse with a Spear that seems to reach across the arena and a serious amount of magic packed in as well all of which is bad news if you like staying alive.

Make good use of the space in the arena as well as aerial attacks. The longer you can stay off the ground the better so manage your Ki and use a Ninja build if you can. I found Tonfas very effective but any high damage weapons especially if you can add Paralysis or Poison to them will help considerably. Avoid the AOE blasts and watch out for this quick turning 360 slash attacks which are designed to catch you off guard.

With Yamagata Masakage down you then need to enter the Crucible which is part of the same mission and this place is a nightmare as you have a new type of elemental hazard to contend with which I’ll refer to as Yokai Flame. It’s black and white and if touched it will kill you instantly, there’s no reprieve and it won’t be dispelled until you kill the Yokai who is generating it making a tough area seemingly unfair at first.

There will also be Chariots which charge at you and won’t stop until they hit either you or a piece of the environment meaning you want to make sure you use the environment to block their charge. Rest at the Boddhisatva Statues and given the face this Crucible is fairly open compared to the Castle Town Crucible you will have cleared earlier it’s a lot easier to snipe enemies from a distance.

At the end of the Crucible you have the option to drop down to your right from the final Boddhisatva Statue and face off against the very powerful Kosaka Masanobu but it isn’t mandatory so you do you then once you’re ready head into the main boss arena where you will meet up with Takeda Shingen and this guy is extremely powerful but also fairly slow so ensure you have a good, high-powered Ninja build to shred him down. Don’t get me wrong he can still kill you very quickly but it’s usually down to your missteps as opposed to being plain unfair like some other bosses in the first era can feel like.

Avoid the magic as best as you can and steer clear of that throw which can land you back at the Shrine if you’re anywhere near half health. This fight has become one of favourites in the Warring States era as it’s doable but challenging.

That’s a look at how to complete the NIOH 3 Fiery Invasion main mission. How did you get on against those bosses?.
