Nioh DLC Pack 1 Dragon Of The North Trophy Guide

Welcome to the Nioh DLC Pack 1 Dragon Of The North Trophy Guide.

Dragon of the North DLC is the first of 3 DLC packs for Nioh and this pack seriously ups the difficulty of an already challenging game. Way of the Demon will be beyond anything you have seen before, this difficulty brings enhanced enemies and missions that have level requirements in the high hundreds which bring a fantastic new weapon series, the Odachi. These missions do bring with them some seriously powerful gear to help you along your way as you take on a series of new enemies and challenges. Here is the complete Guide to help you through as smoothly as possible.

NIOH A Reunion with Hanzo trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

A Reunion with Hanzo
Completed “Yokai Country.”

Yokai Country is the first DLC mission you’ll have access to and it brings with it a lot of yokai including new enemies to fight culminating in a very powerful boss, Date Shigezane. Date incorporates a lot of grab attacks that are lethal if you’re anywhere under full health and has a very high defence stat. Take your time with this fight to be able to come out the other side. Going blow for blow won’t end well for you here. Defeat Date Shizegane to complete the mission.

NIOH Awakened Ambition trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Awakened Ambition
Completed “The One-Eyed Dragon’s Castle.”

Head through the level to defeat Katakura Shigenaga to receive the Dragon Insignia Key, which will allow you through to the final area and the Date Masamune boss. Date is a formidable foe who unleashes brutal combos, has a wind Guardian Spirit and a lot of health and defence. Lightning works well here as does fire, combine that with your usual buffs / debuffs and you’ll take him down eventually. Just remember, you can always go off and level up some more then come back when you’re more powerful. Defeat Date Masamune to complete the mission.

NIOH The Smoldering Flames of War trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

The Smoldering Flames of War
Completed “Spirit Stone Huntress.”

You have one enemy to defeat in this mission, Maria who is one of the hardest fights in the game, she can counter your combos, hit you from any distance, teleport, has a massive Ki bar and hit’s like a freight train. Debuffs don’t seem to last anywhere near as long as they usually do and most of her attacks hit you with the lightning element which slow you down considerably. Combine all of that with a small arena and this is just a bad time.

She is weak to fire and can be slowed by lightning so make good use of these elements, combine that with your own buffs / seriously high levels and you should be able to take Maria down eventually. Once she’s down, the mission will complete. Good luck!

NIOH Oshu Explorer trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Oshu Explorer
Completed all Tohoku region missions.

There are several missions to complete in the Tohoku Region, all of which are well beyond the end game difficulty in Nioh. I recommend going through Way of the Samurai, Way of the Strong and Way of the Demon as much as you can to increase your level / power significantly then come back and tackle these missions on Way of the Samurai to stand a good chance of getting through them all.

Check out the complete Oshu Explorer trophy guide for how to complete every mission in the Tohoku region.

NIOH Destroyer of Demons trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Destroyer of Demons
Completed all “Way of the Demon” missions.

This is the trophy that will make or break you throughout Nioh. You have to complete every main, sub, dojo and Twilight mission throughout the base game, as well as the Dragon of the North DLC on Way of the Demon!!. Levelling up to at least level 250/300 is essential to stand half a a chance here, including soul matching your gear up as high as you can 20+ will help a lot as well.

Ensure you have some powerful buffs such as Power Pill which increases your attack Steel Talisman which increases your defence and farm as many Elixirs as you can throughout the game on lower difficulties so you never run short if you need them. There are also several debuffs in the game which will make the enemies easier to kill, these are limited in number and can only be replenished at a shrine but they are essential for the tougher yokai / bosses without having to spend hours levelling up even more.

The best debuffs for me in the game are the incredibly powerful Sloth Talisman which slows any enemy for around a minute, the Weakness Talisman which lowers an enemies’ defence and the Devigorate Talisman which lowers an enemies attack power. Ultimately though, completing Way of the Demon is a matter of skill and personal preferred playstyle so work your way through playing however suits you best and remember, once a mission is completed, that’s it, you don’t need to do it again so tick them off one at a time. Complete them all to unlock your Trophy.

Here is a link to the Samurai of Legend Trophy Guide showing you what you need to do to complete every base game mission required, bear in mind, the missions listed in the guide are Way of the Samurai difficulty, however, you will know the missions that are required if nothing else. Combine that with the Oshu Explorer guide on this page and you’ll be aware of what’s needed. Good luck!

NIOH Oshu Guide trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Oshu Guide

NIOH Odachi Master trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Odachi Master
Acquired mystic art for the odachi.

You will need an Odachi weapon for this, any one will do then go off and use the odachi (can be one odachi or a combination of different odachis) until you reach 500,000 proficiency. You can check your odachi proficiency level by pressing Touchpad to open the menu then selecting Status, press R1 until you get to the Additional Stats screen where your current weapon proficiencies will be displayed.

Once you have achieved 500,000 proficiency for your odachi, you will need to go the map then select the Dojo from the Starting Point. You will need to complete the mission, Fearless in the Face of Many which will see you face off against Marume Nagayoshi, defeat him to earn your mystic art which can then be set in the Learn Skills option from the menu. You have a choice of 2 mystic arts for the odachi which are:

  1. Subtle Blade:
Increases the Ki damage of frontal strikes against enemies that are attacking.
  2. Shifting Serenity:
Reduces Ki consumption when performing Waking Winds or Sunset Breeze.

Choose either of these 2 mystic arts to unlock your Trophy.

NIOH The Chosen One trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

The Chosen One
Equipped +15 divine equipment in all slots. (Excludes accessories.)

Divine equipment is Green and drops once you have beaten the main games The Demon King Revealed, level 135 main mission found in the Omi Region. In order to make a divine piece of gear +15 or higher, you can Soul Match items at the Blacksmith. In order to Soul Match a Divine item you will need 2 items of the same + value, so for example, you can Soul Match a +2 Sword and a +2 Odachi which will then become a +3 Sword or for armour, you can Soul Match a +5 Head Protection piece with a +5 Foot Protection piece to receive a +6 Head Protection piece.

Whichever item you put in the top slot of the Soul Matching screen is the one you will keep, you will lose whichever item you place in the bottom screen, essentially sacrificing the bottom to enhance the top. You will need to hold +15 items in the following slots:

  • Melee Weapon 1.
  • Melee Weapon 2.
  • Ranged Weapon 1.
  • Ranged Weapon 2.
  • Head Armour.
  • Torso Armour.
  • Arm Guards.
  • Leg Guards.
  • Foot Guards.

The higher the difficulty / level of the missions you go through, the higher the + on any divine gear that drops will be. You can also collect every Kodama for a given area, click either link below to follow the relevant guide for whichever area you choose to farm your divine gear, either the main game (Kodama Leader Trophy Guide) or in the DLC (Oshu Guide Trophy Guide).

You can then activate either the Swordsman Blessing which Increases weapon drop rate by up to 5% or the Warrior Blessing which increases armour drop rate by up to 5% at the Receive Kodama Blessing screen at the shrine. Once you have ground out +15 gear in all slots mentioned above, your Trophy will unlock.

NIOH Hot Spring Enthusiast trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Hot Spring Enthusiast
Bathed in every hot spring in the Tohoku region.

In total, there are 4 Hot Springs to find in the Tohoku Region, to use one, you simply need to get into the Hot Spring then hold Circle in order to “bathe” in the Spring

Check out the complete Hot Spring Enthusiast trophy guide for all 4 hot spring locations.

NIOH Female Impersonator trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Female Impersonator
Completed any mission while transformed into a woman.

In order to transform in to a woman you will first need Glory which is obtained by having being online (press L3 on the map screen) then killing the NPCs that you can summon from red graves (revenants). The amount of Glory you receive will depend on how tough the enemy is then once you have a huge amount of Glory (you will need 70,000) then head to the Starting Point, select the Hidden Teahouse, then Trade, press R1 to go to the Transform tab then choose either:

  • Tachibana Ginchiyo.
  • Fuku.
  • Senji Tome.
  • Maria.
  • Okatsu (100,000 Glory).

From here go back to the Hidden Teahouse main menu, select Transform then choose whichever female you decided to purchase to Transform into that character. Then it’s simply a case of completing any mission on any difficulty.

Please note: This essentially a reskin, all of your abilities and items are your own, they won’t change to fit the new skin. At the conclusion of the mission whilst you’re transformed into a woman, your Trophy will unlock.

NIOH Eluding the Dragon trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Eluding the Dragon
Completed “Hands of the Dragon.”

Hands of the Dragon is one of the last missions you’ll unlock in the Dragon of the North DLC, so keep playing through until it becomes accessible. This mission will see you face off against both Katakura Shigenaga and Date Masamune both of which are challenging in their own right, however, Katakura is more of an annoyance than anything else as he uses his Ninjitsu, especially the Caltrops to disrupt your movements / interrupt your combos so remove him first as a matter of urgency leaving you a one on one fight with Date.

Date is a challenging opponent given his health, Ki and combo ability, debuff him to have an easier time of things, Sloth (Onmyo Talisman) is especially effective. Once you have defeated both Katakura Shigenaga and Date Masamune, the mission will complete and the Trophy will unlock..

NIOH Conqueror of Aoba Castle trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Conqueror of Aoba Castle
Seized all of Aoba Castle’s three-storied keeps in “The One-Eyed Dragon’s Castle.”

There are 4 three-storied keeps in the mission you will need to “seize” which you can do so by getting to the top of the building then defeat the blue Yoki that will spawn. All 4 keeps are found before the fight with Katakura Shigenaga. That said, you will need to seize all 4 keeps in one mission playthrough rather than across multiple attempts.

Check out the complete Conqueror of Aoba Castle trophy guide for where to find all 4 keeps in the Dragon Of The North DLC.

NIOH Good Listener trophy
PlayStation Bronze Trophy

Good Listener
Listened to Katakura Shigenaga’s entire introduction in “The One-Eyed Dragon’s Castle.”

As you make your way through the mission, you will get to Katakura Shigenaga, who you need to defeat in order to get the Dragon Insignia Key. Once you are face to face with Katakura, he will start a short speech, listen to the entire thing, when he’s done, he will attack you so just be patient. At the conclusion of his speech, your Trophy will unlock.

That’s the Nioh DLC Pack 1 Dragon Of The North Trophy Guide complete I hope it helps you through the pack.
