Sony Purchases Bungie For Billions

For the majority of people out there, January is a time to cut back and scrimp and save after Christmas trying to get through the month after fun and frivolity as they celebrate the baby Jesus’ favourite tradition of present opening and overcooked turkey. Sony, however, clearly didn’t receive the memo to save and have decided to make a small purchase; Bungie! For $3,600,000,000 (3.6 billion).

Sony purchasing Bungie is the companies single largest acquisition in monetary terms (not taking inflation into account) since they purchased Colombia Pictures Entertainment for 3.4 billion back in 1989. So to sum January 2022 up, Microsoft purchased Activision who own the Crash Bandicoot IP which was Sony’s mascot back in the day and Sony now own Bungie who make the HALO franchise which was Xbox’s selling point at launch… What a weird month!
