Tools of the Trade
Craft every item

Here’s the The Last Of Us Part II Tools Of The Trade Trophy Guide. You will need to craft items as you make your way through the story and are categorised here as:

The items themselves can be created at any time when you’re not in active combat (shooting / hitting etc) and can be crafted if you’re in cover whilst in a fight. For some craftables you will need to find training manuals for each character (click the link to go to the Journeyman Trophy Guide for all 8 training manual locations) which then unlock a skill tree which some craftable recipes are found in. The majority of the crafting items required are found throughout the game but are in short supply (you are in a post-world apocalypse after all) so use them sparingly otherwise you might run out when you need them most.

To increase your chances of finding the items required turn on the Enhanced Listen Mode (Pause> Options> Accessibility> Navigation And Traversal> Enhanced Listen Mode> On> Scan Range> 30m> Scan Time> 1s) which will send a sonar out by pressing R1+Circle highlighting every item that can be collected. Some of the upgrades have the same name / requirements for both Ellie and Abby however, you are going to need to craft the items as both Ellie and Abby for them to count towards the trophy. The upgrades they both share are:

  • Health Kit.
  • Silencer.
  • Melee Upgrade.

All 3 craftables have the same requirements for either player and will more than likely be crafted as you progress given their uses but just in case, I wanted to mention it here.

Ellie's Craftables

Ellie has the following craftables:

The majority of the materials required for Ellie’s upgrades are found throughout the game although they are all in limited supply so use the items sparingly. The Explosives and canisters are found throughout the latter part of the game and are in very short supply. Turn on Enhanced Listen Mode to have an easier time finding everything required.

Health Kit

Replenishes a good portion of health and requires:

  • Alcohol.
  • Rag.

You will need to craft these as you go throughout the story.

Molotov

A bottle of liquid fire that deals heavy damage in a wide radius and requires:

  • Alcohol.
  • Rag.

Molotovs are an essential offensive combat item.

Smoke Bombs

Create a large smoke cloud greatly reducing your enemies abilities to see you and firstly requires you to find the Prep training manual from Seattle Day 1, Downtown (click the link to go to the Journeyman Trophy Guide for all training manual locations). To craft smoke bombs you will need:

  • Canister.
  • Explosive.

Smoke Bombs are very handy at getting through heavily occupied sections with human enemies a lot smoother allowing for easier stealth kills.

Trap Mines

Trap Mines are a really useful tool throughout the game. If you’re being chased, lay a Trap Mine then when an enemy gets close to the Mine it will explode dealing heavy damage and requires the following to craft:

  • Canister.
  • Explosive.

Trap Mines should be used throughout the game as there isn’t really a place where they aren’t effective but don’t be to close to them when they explode!

Silencer

Before you can craft Silencers you need to first have found the Last Round Training Manual from Seattle Day 1, Capitol Hill (click the link to go to the Journeyman Trophy Guide for all training manual locations). Once you have the manual you then need to have:

  • Rag.
  • Canister.

Silencers are a very important tool if you’re looking at being quiet throughout the game.

Melee Upgrade

You will need the Prep Training Manual from Seattle Day 1, Downtown before you can craft Melee Upgrades. (Click the link to go to the Journeyman Trophy Guide for exact locations on the training manuals). Once you have the manual you will need:

  • Binding.
  • Blade.
  • Melee Weapon.

Melee Upgrades are invaluable when dealing with a good amount of enemies as the increased damage helps take your opponents down more effectively.

Arrows

You will need to acquire the Bow from the Stalker in Seattle Day 2, Hillcrest which you acquire automatically as part of the story before you can craft Arrows then once you have the Bow you will need:

  • Binding.
  • Blade.

Arrows are a really good way of dealing stealth kills at great distance and have high stopping power.

Explosive Arrows

Before you can craft Explosive Arrows you will first need to have acquired the Organic Chemistry training manual from Seattle Day 2, The Seraphites (click the link to go to the Journeyman Trophy Guide for how to find all 8 training manuals). You will also need the Bow which you’ll acquire automatically as you made your way through Seattle Day 2, Hillcrest (click the link to go to the Arms Master Trophy Guide for the Bows exact location) where you will then need:

  • Explosive.
  • Binding.

Explosives Arrows are one of the most powerful ammunition types in the game as they deal very heavy damage in a wide radius and are key to taking down the bigger enemies a lot easier.

Abby's Craftables

Abby has the following craftables:

The materials required can be found throughout the game although they are in short supply for the most part so don’t waste the items once you have them. Turn on Enhanced Listen Mode to have an easier time finding everything required.

Health Kit

The Health Kit is invaluable throughout the game as it refills a portion of your health bar and requires:

  • Alcohol.
  • Rag.

Ensure you always have a good supply of Health Kits crafted to increase your chances of surviving.

Pipe Bomb

Pipe Bombs are timed explosive devices which go off after a few seconds causing heavy damage to everything in the vicinity and require:

  • Alcohol.
  • Canister.
  • Explosive.

Pipe bombs are an excellent crowd control explosive or for use against powerful single targets.

Incendiary Shells

Incendiary Shells are nasty as they deal initial damage from the shot then have the added bonus of setting anything they hit on fire dealing damage over time. Even the strongest enemies have a hard time standing up to a direct hit from incendiary shells. Before you can craft Incendiary Shells you will first need to have collected the Bring Your Own Bullets Training Manual from Seattle Day 1, The Forest (click the link to go to the Journeyman Trophy Guide for how to find all 8 training manuals) then require the following materials to craft:

  • Alcohol.
  • Explosive.

Incendiary Shells are a brilliant asset to your inventory especially on the harder difficulties.

Hunting Pistol Ammo

The Hunting Pistol has high stopping power and before you can craft ammunition for it you will firstly need to find the Bring Your Own Bullets Training Manual from Seattle Day 1, The Forest (click the link to go to the Journeyman Trophy Guide for how to find every training manual). Once you have the manual you will then need the following items to be able to crafting Hunting Pistol Ammo:

  • Explosive.
  • Blade.

Given the power of the Hunting Pistol it will always be prevalent to have ammunition on hand for it.

Silencer

Silencers greatly increase Abby’s stealth capabilities and are created with the following:

  • Rag.
  • Canister.

For some sections having a stealth weapon will be advantageous so keep one handy for when you need it.

Melee Upgrade

Abby’s Melee Upgrades make her even more efficient when swinging any melee weapon and require the following materials:

  • Binding.
  • Blade.
  • Melee Weapon.

Increasing Abby’s efficiency in melee combat is only ever a useful thing so ensure you apply the upgrade as soon as you have the materials to make your life easier.

Shiv

Shiv’s are an excellent addition to for any playthrough as they allow 1-hit kills against Clickers and Stalkers which can be invaluable when you have a group of them after you and require the following materials to craft:

  • Binding.
  • Blade.

Given the Shivs’ effectiveness in battle I recommend having as many as you can carry on you at all times. Once you have crafted each item for both Ellie and Abby you will then earn your Trophy.

That’s the Last Of Us Part II Tools Of The Trade Trophy Guide complete I hope it helps you craft every item.
